A beautiful work unsigned from the 1960s measuring 22x18” oil on canvas. Geometric patterns on a dark background

At first glance this appears to be a 17th century Dutch landscape oil on panel by someone like Ruisdael, Hobbema, Cuyp, Van Goyen, or other famous artists of that time and place. Closer examination reveals that this is actually a late 20th century work in that style, signed at lower right by artist J M GRISWOLD. I do not see information on the artist but he or she was clearly familiar with 17th century Dutch art...

An extremely well painted American miniature portrait of a young boy wearing a black coat, white shirt and cravat. He is posed in front of a red drapery. Rather than being done as these miniatures usually were, in watercolor on ivory, this is a far rarer oil on copper example.

The painting is in excellent condition, and has just a slight bit of rubbing at a couple of spots where it meets the period stamped brass frame...

This painting measures 18"x36". Helen LaFrance is a self-taught, modern, contemporary artist who is 99 years of age. Her earliest known painting is a 12’x20’ mural inside of a local church that was made circa the late 40's and early 50’s and she continued to paint into the early 2000's. It is signed "DC" lower right. It still bears verso the original gallery label from Galleries Maurice Sternberg in Chicago, as well as a brass plaque on the frame. Circa 1940. Possibly a study for a mural. It depicts the construction of a church in the Americas. In excellent condition.
