A finely painting oil on canvas landscape of a windmill in moonlit landscape, a structure at left with a glowing window, the clouds luminous with the eerie light, and possibly some grazing animals at right, the work apparently UNSIGNED. The detailed meticulous handling suggests an early 19th century date---or possibly even earlier; the work has an Old Master feeling. Measurements are 18" by 24" (21 1/2" by 28" in traditional style old walnut frame with gold fillet)...
A contemporary drawing in gouache in the classic Indian manner, depicting mounted royalty on elephants, other mounted apparently royal figures (maharaja?) on a camel and horse, in an exotic landscape including a palace in the distance. The work is in the style commonly seen for at least 500 years in India and Persia. The artist has taken great care with the amazing details. Measures 13 1/2" by 10 3/4" framed. Possibly acquired originally in India (see reverse partial sticker).
Two antique French statues: first one depicting a violinist, signed "A. Moreau"; 9 3/4 inches in height, second one, three putti, signed "Peylo", 5 1/2 inches high, both from late 19th century period and each mounted on marble base, conditions consistent with age. Provenance: NH Estate.
A colorful original work, NOT A PRINT, the subject four palms at the beach, signed at lower left margin in pencil by noted California contemporary artist SALLY HUSS (1940-). The work, art itself 15" by 24" and 23" by 32 1/2" as framed, is typical of the artist's output----always colorful in the extreme, and whimsical, the subjects landscape, florals, or fantasy. Her designs are often available as prints or on merchandise, but original works are more scarce. Condition is excellent.
Fernand Guinier 1906-1972 Monte Saint Michel 12x16” Watercolor in a beautiful baroque goldleaf Frame. The artist was well known in the Montmartre area of Paris.
Found in New Hampshire, and bearing the label of a contemporary Portland, Maine frame shop, a watercolor painting of an old barge grounded on the shore of a creek adjacent to a woodland, a small house in the distance. The 11" by 14" work (17 1/2" by 20" framed) is signed at lower left and dated there "80". The signature appears to read "Ranger", as in Henry Ward Ranger (1858-1916), a well-known American artist. This is a possibility but could be difficult to confirm...
Oil on canvas, 21" by 26" (26" by 31" as framed), the subject a winter landscape with coniferous trees in the background, a small unfrozen lake completing the scene. This is an impressionistic work by a nicely listed painter, the works of whom appear with frequency at auctions in Finland. I currently do not have a lot of biographical information on the artist, who was, judging from the label on the reverse (see photo), a member of the Society of Finnish Painters...
A PAIR of gold-framed, antique pastels of fruits, one a pear and grapes, the other peaches, apparently unsigned, but very much in the style of and possibly by the known late nineteenth century American pastel artist JOHN BOWER, who was known for precisely this kind of work. Each drawing measures 7 1/2" by 9 1/2", and frames are identical size at 13" by 15". Affixed to the frame reverse are typed labels proclaiming each to be "Unsigned"...
A very fine miniature bust length silhouette on natural organic material by John Miers. The piece is signed along the left side of the bust line. As is usual with his best examples, this painting shows very finely executed bronzed work. The interior of the top is glazed with a hairwork enclosed. Sight size is 1 1/8" by 7/8", and the locket size is 1 1/4" by 1"...
Oil on canvas laid on board 9 3/4" by 8", unframed, the subject a red-haired child, signed at lower right by the noted children's art illustrator at mid century, MAUD TOUSEY FANGEL (1881-1968). The work is slightly reminiscent of the impressionism of Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Fangel was a much-in-demand illustrator for east coast-based magazines such as Ladies Home Journal. She came to be something of a celebrity when it came to depicting children awake and asleep...

They are richly framed in gold leaf frames and done on canvas…… Anne Lane studied art at George Mason University in Virginia, completed her education at Saint Patrick’s college, Ireland, where she studied theology and philosophy. Original ink drawing on brown paper circa 1921 by Isidor Ascheim (German-born Israeli artist, 1891-1968). Well framed. Signed l.r. Also identified by two labels from Denenberg Fine Art, Boston, verso. 17" by 13" work alone, 20" by 16" in frame. An original drawing of a standing cowboy, executed on thin tracing-style paper, with estate stamp at lower right of noted Arizona artist CURTIS WINGATE (1926-1982). The drawing, 18" by 9" inside the current mat, is very sketchy, as if perhaps a very preliminary study for a finished watercolor or painting. Wingate was born in Dennison, Texas and spent most of his life in Arizona after moving there from California...
