Old Russian painting of a night winter landscape with figures, oil on canvas, 12 1/2" by 18" as framed, signed with Cyrillic letters "P O" or "L O" at lower right. To date I have been unable to match the letters to any particular artist (nor could the Christie's Russian art specialist, when she saw it). The painting is extremely soiled and the canvas very uneven (could be described as sunken in, and the ripples "hardened" over time)...

A circa 1920's to 1940's old reprint of the much-loved classic Currier and Ives lithograph "American Winter Scenes", with a horse-drawn sleigh heading towards the snug home at right in which a party appears to be held. The piece measures 23 1/2" by 30 1/2" in what I believe is a birdseye maple frame. Condition is very good, vintage condition. The original 19th century lithograph is very expensive; this reasonable alternative will provide the same decorative punch.

His parents owned Foote Floral Company which specialized in orchids. He received his art education at the Chicago Art Institute during the '20's and '30's. He was a commercial artist and worked for Montgomery and Ward most of his professional life...

From our European Collection, a very good 17th century Italian School oil on canvas, 'Ecce Homo.' An enduringly poignant and iconic image of Christ in Pathos and everything else that this represents, it needs no further elaboration from us.

Size and Condition: Framed dimensions, 31.5 x 25.5 inches; Unframed image size is 25.75 inches x 19.75 inches. The painting has crazing / craquelure consistent with its 17th century age...

A fine miniature portrait of a pretty young child, done in watercolors on organic material by William Egley. The case has hallmarks for 9K London gold and a maker's mark for G.S. Both the case and the painting are in excellent condition with no problems. The size is 1 5/16" by 1 1/16".

Sterling Edmund Lanier author and sculptor Bronze General figure either French or German he seems to be wearing an iron cross around his neck , 1960-1970s original hand cast in as made condition . Size h 2" w 1" signed Lanier on the back of the belt. Lanier was born on December 18, 1927 in New York City . He was trained as an anthropologist and archaeologist, and educated at Harvard, from which he graduated during 1951...

Meierhans, b. - 1890 in Switzerland, came to the United States in 1917, eventually settling in Bucks County. He studied under A.N.Lindenmuth and J. Sloan. He was a member of the S.Indp.Artists, ASL, Provincetown A.A. and the American Abstract Artists

Jean Emile Laboureur 1887-1943 French This is an original engraving by French artist Jean Emile Laboureur. The title of this work is: La Blanchisseuse (The Laundress) This image was created and printed in 1922. It is pencil signed by the artist and numbered as 40/72 in the lower right border. The image measures 9 7/8X7 1/8 inches. Nicely Framed. Very good condition. Laboureur was well known for his distinctly Cubist style of expression.

For the natural history aficionado or decorator, a PAIR of original finely detailed drawings in watercolor and ink, one titled faintly in pencil "Scorpions", the other featuring other unidentified but quite exotic-looking creatures with many legs. Each drawing is 8 1/4" by 6 1/2" inside the mat, and the works are identically framed (13" by 11")...

Henri Duvieux, French, 1855-1882. This small jewel is a very fine example of Duvieux' work. The painting is 6" by 8" in a 4" 19th C Frame. It is in good condition and is signed lower right. Duvieux was known for his atmospheric paintings of Istanbul and Venice and often painted pairs of painting often dawn and dusk. His paintings sell for up to 25,000.

ONE OF A NUMBER BY THE ARTIST IN MY SHOP**This is a small etching, 7 3/8" by 5 1/4" inside the mat, 15" by 11 3/4" as simply framed, by the noted California artist HARRIET GENE ROUDEBUSH (1908-1998), titled at lower left margin "Carmel cypress trees" and pencil signed at lower right by the artist. The imagery features stately, classic Monterey Cypress trees on the famous foggy coastline. Roudebush was born in Portland, Oregon and moved to Sacramento as a youth...

This Warren Davis etching measures 7 7/8 x 6 inches, pencil signed, label from Kleemann-Thorman Galleries, New York included, c.1928. This delicately rendered etching is a great example of Davis's images of graceful female nudes, many of which were used for Vanity Fair and Life magazines in the very early 1900s.
