From our European Collection, a very fine oil on canvas by British painter William Robert Symonds, signed and dated 1875. Symonds, who lived from 1851-1934, was a genre painter known for touching scenes of people and animals, and most often of small children in random snapshots of everyday life, where he captured well their innocence and curious musings...

This very unusual portrait of a lady appears to be dressed in the finest apparal of its day. Notice the pearls and feather hat. It is mounted in the original stretcher and appears to be a replacement frame. There is writing on the reverse of the canvas and more info to be added later.

I am not sure which one of these names be that of the artist, or if a name is actually that of the pug...

A refined old drawing titled "Caterskill Clove" dated Oct. 7, 1859, the subject a famed rocky gorge in the eastern part of the Catskill mountains of New York State (google "Catskill Clove" for full information on this renowned scenic area). The work is apparently unsigned. There are any number of listed artists of the Hudson River School who could have created the drawing; Sanford Robinson Gifford, William Hart, Asher Durand and many others of note painted in the area...

Berthe Morisot 1841-1895 French This is a very fine original drypoint etching by French Impressionist Berthe Morisot. This etching created and printed in 1889 is the second state of two. Printed on wove type paper this is a fine impression prior to the later impressions where the cancellation holes were filled. The image measures 7 1/2X5 1/2 inches.
