By the hand of noted Southwestern artist MANUEL S. FRANCO, a large, detailed work, consisting of two separate paintings framed as one: the principal painting of the iconic Taos Pueblo in northern New Mexico, and the smaller work at right a black ware traditional pot. **PAIR** of watercolors on paper of African American musicians in the famous New Orleans French Quarter jazz spot known as Preservation Hall. Each painting is on a sheet of heavy watercolor paper measuring 15" by 11" (21 1/2" by 16 1/2" as framed), both signed but I am unable to decipher the signature----looks something like "Tortelli" but that is a wild guess. These are possibly paintings for the tourist trade but there is a monumentality to the work that goes beyond tourist art...

Rockwell, a relative of Norman Rockwell, is a talented portraitist currently working out of Clearwater, Florida. The artist lived at one time in Southern California and that is likely why this rather early work was found here...

A black and white photograph of a man supine on a bed in a simple or even stark interior, signed and stamped on the reverse, and with edition information (6/25) by the noted, widely exhibited American contemporary photographer, MARSHA BURNS (1945-). Burns was born in Seattle and received early training in the fine arts at the University of Washington, which was followed by study at the University of Massachusetts Amherst...

This is a contemporary work, signed at lower right "Christopher Clarke" and dated there "83". Measuring 11 5/8" by 16 5/8" inside the mat and 19" by 25" as framed, the work reminds of accomplished watercolor painters like Frank Weston Benson, Ogden Pleissner, Chet Reneson, and others who skillfully rendered duck hunters and their prey. Oddly I don't see a listing for this artist but he was clearly very talented. Note the wet-on-wet technique in the sky area...
