Gouache on paper drawing of a snowy mountain landscape with low structures depicted almost cubist style in the middle distance, apparently unsigned, circa mid 20th century, 12 1/4" by 16 1/2" inside the mat, 21" by 24" as framed. The cubistic handling of the houses reminds of artists like Andrew Dasburg and other New Mexico modernists, but this is just a guess. The colors are fresh and quite vigorous. The drawing is taped along the edges to a backing.

Louis-Auguste-Mathieu Legrand (b.1863-d.1951) Original mixed media of gouache, etching, collage, and ink drawing of a French can can dancer c. 1900 signed lower left. Louis Legrand was an important artist of the Belle Epoque in France in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Dijon and in 1884 moved to Paris. In good condition some minor touch ups to gouache paint. Image measuring 10.5"x11.5" overall framed size 17"x18.5"

A contemporary painting by a talented anonymous artist, the subject a church stained glass window, with Gothic arches and impressive detail, including the names of the saints pictured. The work measures 14 1/2" by 11 1/4" (21 1/2" by 18" framed in black). Condition is excellent, I note a tiny chip at lower left frame easily painted black. The artist invested a lot of time in creating this and the former owner installed UV resistant glass to prevent fading...

Acquired as one of a number of works by late Bozeman, Montana artist MARION "MAL" LEWIS (1925-2010), this is a fine collage work of an orange-yellow painted cardboard sphere with overlaid and background cut blue printed paper, undated, not framed (just matted), likely from late in the artist's life. While traveling through Montana I came upon a group of mostly collage, abstract works by this artist, though there is at least one non-abstract work, a New Mexico drawing, that I will be listing...

Original 19th century lithograph "A Scene in Old Ireland", by Currier and Ives, the famous American printmakers. This is a true antique hand-colored lithograph and not a later restrike. The work is framed in a late 19th century wood frame with gold inner fillet. Wood backing with rotary saw marks indicates it was framed after the 1870's. Measurements are 12" by 15 3/4" as framed (margins are ample but might have been trimmed a little in early days)...

The painting probably dates to about 1880 but has been laid on the plywood in recent decades (some waxy drips on the plywood as seen). There is some craquelure with a few pinpoint losses. Fine pastel drawing of a seated young woman, on gray-blue paper, 18 1/2" by 12 1/2" (23 1/2" by 17 1/2" in mid century white frame), unsigned. The artist was clearly very skilled but unfortunately failed to sign the work. An elegant interior is suggested by the orange pottery vessel at far right. The young lady's clothing suggests that the work could be old----maybe early 20th century, despite appearing to be quite fresh. Once again, it is difficult to determine without a date or artist name...

For the true R. CRUMB fan, after/in the style of famed comic art pop culture phenomenon R. Circa 1900 American pastel landscape drawing, 22 1/2" by 9 3/4" (29" by 15" framed), apparently unsigned, in the style of William Chandler and the pastel school of the period. The work is framed behind non-glare glass, which blurs the detail. Condition appears to be excellent. The vertical format would fit your hard-to-fit narrow wall.
