A contemporary painting featuring the streets of Paris' famous Montmartre, the dome of white Sacre Coeur cathedral towering over narrow streets filled with pedestrians. The work measures 10 1/2" by 8 1/2" (12 3/4" by 10 1/2" as framed in black). The work is signed at lower right "Georges" and on reverse is written "Georges---Paris---2010/Montmartre". Condition of painting is excellent but lower left corner of frame shows some damage and there is scuffing elsewhere. Paint it black or reframe.

This is an etching on laid paper, the sheet 10 1/2" by 14", simply framed, pencil signed by listed American early 20th century artist HORACE DEVITT WELSH (1888-1942). The subject appears to be a coastal location in Maine, judging from the sails in the distance and the mountainous coast. This work was likely created in the 1960's or early 1970's at latest, in Brazil. There is no glass nor mat; over time, at top center left in the tree line, and in the sky, the work acquired small paint loss areas, which are overwhelmed b the busyness of the scenery---and they are easily touched up...

Miniature size watercolor painting of two old structures along a fence line in the fall, 5" by 5 1/2" as framed, signed at lower right "Davis F. Schwartz". The watercolor probably dates to the 1930's or 1940's. Schwartz (1879-1969) has a sizable listing in Hughes' "Artists in California 1786-1940". According to Hughes, the artist was born in Kentucky, and went on to study in the Midwest at Art Institute of Chicago and at schools in Ohio...

This is a drawing of traditional subject matter in a contemporary style, evidently by a youngster who lived at the Taos Pueblo in northern New Mexico. Measuring 7 3/8" by 11 1/2" inside the present mat (12 5/8" by 17 1/2" as framed), the image is of a bison with a stylized sun at upper left, and scattered stylized trees, with a multi story adobe at lower right serving as the Pueblo itself. On the reverse is written "Age 13/Taos Day School/New,Mexico 87511/Taos Pueblo/U.S.A."...

A George Culley Canada watercolour painting of a house on lake. This unframed 15-1/4" x 11-1/4" watercolour on paper is by George S. Culley (Canadian, 1905 - 1988) depicting a house with boat ramp on a lake. This picture is signed and dated 1976. It is not titled, but is most likely an Ontario Canada setting. It is in excellent condition with no foxing, staining, bends, tears, losses, damage or repairs. It is signed G.S. Culley '76 on the lower right...

Gouache on paper, 16 1/2" by 10 3/4" and 4" on a side mat/frame, signed at lower left in Cyrillic with the possible name "Dreber" or "Dreiber" or "Dreyber", and dated 22 November 1974. This carefully crafted drawing of fuchsia and a tulip-shaped bloom reminds me of early American folk art Americana like Pennsylvania fraktur.......but, this is Russian! Condition is excellent with just slight mottling of a leaf... I think this could be just the artist's handling of the paint...

Oil on gray academy board painting, 12" by 17 7/8", 16" by 22" in the rather battered old framing, unsigned, probably executed in the latter years of the nineteenth century in New England. The artist created a comforting scene with a folk art feel, the handling of the trees and structure charmingly primitive. More than likely, this will need a new frame. There is a roughly circular dark area as seen at lower left, about 1" in diameter, that has been abraded. Otherwise the painting just sports...

Oil on canvasboard painting of a rocky cliff at the coast, 11 1/2" by 14 3/4" as framed, signed at lower right "K.B. GUNDERMAN". The impressionist work likely dates to about 1960. I do not see a listing for an artist by this name (there is a Karen Gunderman who works with ceramic and abstraction but this does not seem to be the same artist). The painting has forty-plus years of yellowed varnish and light soiling but is otherwise in good condition.

A vintage watercolor of two girls seated on rocks at the seashore, signed at lower left by artist Frank Lockwood and dated there 1945. The piece measures " by " and " by " as framed. All photos were taken through the detail-dulling non-glare glass that was popular in the sixties and seventies. I see a listing for a Frank Lockwood as photographer but no convincing listing for a painter by that name.

Oil on canvas, 24" by 36" (33" by 45" as framed), signed at lower left "Cantrell". This is a good sized oil of a peaceful scene with tree and a house against the setting sun. I date the work to the 1970's or 1980's. Condition good with some light craquelure and very slight dimpling, but no holes. The frame upper left corner is separating just a little bit.
