London, which gives the name of the artist, the title of the work, and the name of the purchaser in 1967. Crane Kalman Gallery handled the estate of the artist and held a number of exhibitions of his work, including a retrospective exhibition in 1967. One of three works by this artist currently available.

By the hand of the noted Polish-born Jewish artist who spent most of his life in California, BERNARD BARUCH ZAKHEIM (1896-1985) is this very early (1929) watercolor study "Mural Design for Monterey Calif". We see an image of a number of figures evidently hard at work in a landscape (possibly harvesting). The watercolor, 11 1/2" by 12" and 14" by 15 1/2" framed, dates to less than a decade after the artist arrived in California...

An early 20th century formal portrait of a lady painted by one of the leading portraitists of that century, Stanislav Rembski (1896-1998). A native of Poland, Rembski immigrated to the United States in the 1920s, working first in Brooklyn Heights, then Baltimore around 1940.

His paintings are in museum and private collections world wide, having been commissioned by Eleanor Roosevelt to paint a posthumous portrait of her husband, and of Woodrow Wilson...

This delicately rendered etching is a great example of Davis's images of graceful female nudes, many of which were used for Vanity Fair and Life magazines in the very early 1900s.
