Indonesia, like Burma, has a long standing and very accomplished woodcarving tradition where generations of craftsmen have been producing great woodwork for decades...

This is a very fine pair of sterling silver asparagus tongs in the Buttercup pattern made by Gorham in the Victorian style, reticulated with chasing on the handles, marked "Gorham Sterling", measures 9 in long; excellent condition.

A simple vintage Thai sitting Buddha statue often seen from the Sukothai period onwards. The statue is casted and the eys are inlaid with metal. The simple, undecorated style visually expresses the Buddhist ideals. Age: 20th century Size: Height 10.25" Width: 4.25" Length 6.5"

Head of funerary statue or effigy, of minimalist shape. Weathered wood, with shell eyes. Indonesia, South Sulawesi, Toraja Peoples. Height: 12" (30 cm). The head is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Very good condition. NOTE 1: The Toraja have this particularly interesting tradition of carving in wood funerary images of the deceased. These figures are kept in galleries or balconies beside the coffins in which high-ranking or noble or wealthy people are buried...

Beautiful signed Tiffany compote with extremely unusual very vivid lavender/purple color. This piece measures 2 1/2" tall x 7 3/4" in diameter. It is signed on the bottom LC Tiffany Favrile.

A pair of doilies from Afghanistan, with gul-i-peron discs and extensive beadwork, mirrorwork. They are in excellent condition and measure 19 x 19 cm. Intricate ladder stitch and button hole stitching are the embroidery techniques, plus metal thread and Bukhara stitching. These doilies were made for a woman's dowry and would form part of her trousseau. Estimated age mid to late 20th century.

As Wikipedia describes it, "Legong is a form of Balinese dance. It is a refined dance form characterized by intricate finger movements, complicated footwork, and expressive gestures and facial expressions. Legong probably originated in the 19th century as royal entertainment...

A Sterling Silver Creamer and Sugar, with a gold washed interior, in the Paul Revere Style by Reed & Barton; date mark, 1942. The Creamer is 3" x 2" and the Sugar is 2" x 3.25", with a combined weight of 6 Troy ounces. Very fine condition.

Chinese print, made in the 1950s by the National Museum in Taipei, of 16th or 17th century original fan. This print is part of a collection of four volumes each with 10 prints or paintings and fans. The woman is wearing elegant garments that billow in the wind as she stands atop a phoenix whose wings are flapping as they ascend through the clouds together, the sun glowing behind them. The image measures 8" wide. The book measures 15.25" tall 13" wide .5" deep.

She attended California School of Fine Art and studied under Otis Oldfield. Most well known for character portraits of famous political figures including this one of Chang Kai-Shek. Beautiful vivid green finger bowl and underplate, both signed Tiffany Favrile. They both have white highlights, but the plate shows up more than the bowl. The bowl measures 5" in diameter by 1 3/4" tall; the plate measures 6 3/4" in diameter. Both pieces are in perfect condition.

A simple, yet elegant monochrome painting of bamboo with a poetic inscription below stating how the groves of bamboo creates shade and the new sprouts in spring are inviting invoking a sense of great virtue through the bamboo. A Chinese landscape painting done on a gold paper base done in the style of Zhang Da Qian. The work contains a signature and seal of Zhang Da Qian's noted disciple Sun Yunsheng (1918-2000). Zhang Da Qian established a style influenced from traditional Chinese landscape paintings combined with Song Dynasty style ink wash landscapes. Work is dated in June of 1975. Gorgeous scenic painting by Chinese artist Tsui Chian Tsai of a small town amidst a beautiful mountainous landscape, with a murky, grey sky and delicate white speckles of paint to represent the falling snow. Two large boats are returning to shore, covered in snow from their long trip. Very detailed work with a lot of realism, the artist truly captured the feeling of an extremely cold climate. Lovely handpainted bombay two-drawer check with marble top. Beautifully painted flowers decorate the front, outlined by green with tiny flowers. It measures 30" tall x 23" wide x 16" deep. It probably dates from the mid 20th century, and is in beautiful original condition.

Oil Painting by Park Deuk Soon (1910 - 1990), signed and dated 1949, with original frame. Park Deuk Soon studied in Tokyo with Ryohei Koizo and graduated from the Pacific Fine Arts School in 1938. He exhibited often at the National Art Exhibition and the Chosun Art Exhibition. He was also an educator and an active member of the Kukjeon, and served for a time as President of the Korean Painters Association. Frame: 23.5 x 19 inches, 59 x 48 cm; Painting: 17 x 12.25 inches, 43 x 31 cm.

A beuatiful old Chinese ghost buster soap stone carving, with five busted small ghosts. His name is call "Zhong Kui",In Chinese folklores, Zhong Kui is a god who exorcises ghosts and evil spirits. A large Buddhist scroll painting of the Amitabha triad where Amitabha is attended by Avalokitesvara and Mahasthamaprapta. The bodhisattvas are adorned with elaborate accessories often seen in images of bodhisattvas. The Buddha, is wearing a red garment painted with medallion like patterns to make the cloth appear like brocades. Age: 20th century. Size: height 111.5" width 54.5"

Japanese print entitled "Last Supper" by Sadao Watanbe. Sadao Watanabe (1913-1996) was part of the Mingi (folk art) movement in Japan which involved the use of natural materials. Watanabe's early boyhood job as a textile dyer has influence his work greatly. He used organic mineral pigments with a soybean milk binder (katazome) on hand crumpled paper (momigami). Watanabe's upbringing as a Christian is the main influence of his subject matter...

A rare carved hardwood plaque depicting a heavily tattooed Maori figure with top-knot and holding a Mere (traditional short club); the eyes are inset with Paua (abalone) shells.
