A beautiful Murano glass handkerchief vase, made probably by Barovier & Toso (designer: Ercole Barovier) around 1950. The vase is made up of poly-chrome fused canes on a colorless ground glass. The vase is 4 3/4 inches (12 cm) wide and 3 3/4 inches (9,5 cm) tall. Fine condition. Polished pontil. Unsigned.

A beautiful, Murano glass 'Mezza Filigrana' vase, made by Dino Martens for Aureliano Toso. The very heavy glass vase is 11 1/2 inches (29 cm) tall and 7 1/2 inches (19 cm) wide. Good condition, without chips, cracks or repairs (a few bubbles in glass, and age-appropriate base wear, as expected). Unsigned, as expected (a similar vase was sold by Midwest Auction Company on December 1, 2012).

These salad servers comprise a fork and spoon with rosewood handles and hand-wrought sterling silver tines and bowl. Each is decorated with three simple applied beads at the collar that wraps around the handles. The backs bear the mark of Taxco silversmith Bernice Goodspeed as well as sterling marks. Very old Dan mask with circular eyes, protruding forehead, long thin nose, protruding lips, small chin. This mask is of the "gunyeya" type, and was used during the running competitions which were organised to train men to run and fight. It is made of wood, with a fine dark brown glossy patina. A traditional oribe ware handled dish decorated with geometric patterns and the signature green glaze that oribe wares are known for. The green glaze used for oribe is thought be difficult to produce and only the most skilled potters can produce the green color by knowing the temperature and timing when fired. The dish was produced by the Gensui kiln in Seto city Aichi prefecture. The studio specializes in producing oribe wares. Age: Showa Period. Size: height 10" diameter 14.5"

Matsue paper mache dates back to the Edo Period (1600-1868) and has a robust charm. In this rural area, the Ox signifies a good harvest. Matsue is known in the West as the long-time Japanese home of writer Lafcadio Hearn (1850-1904.)
Japanese glass ojime in a form of tombodama bead with numerous white flowers. Tombodama can be translated as “dragonfly ball” and the name is thought to come about because when the molten glass is applied to the core bead it resembles a dragonfly’s eye. This faience figural group was produced in Bologna, Italy by Aurelio Minghetti in the early 1900s. This piece was sold by the retailer “Carbone” of Boston, who handled European imports from about 1910 to 1920. It measures 16 inches high, 9 1/2 inches wide, and 8 inches deep. It is well modeled and hand painted. The garments on the Madonna have colorful detail. There is a feel of serenity and ancient Mediterranean tradition in the piece.
