A Pashtun nomad's purse from Katawaz, Ghazni province, circa mid 20th century. There are blue beads along all the edges, used to ward off the evil eye. The purse has metallic trim along all the edges and fine Bokhara couching which covers the entire surface area, front and back. The beaded cord winds around the purse to keep it closed. There are two pockets inside, lined with red cotton fabric. The purse measures 6 x 11 inches when opened and elongated, 5 x 6 1/2 inches when closed...

Pilgrim's coat made of asa (hemp) with hand-written Buddhist sutra. It also has stampted Zao Gongen who is a main image of the Kinpusen-ji temple and Ominesan-ji temple. It has many red stamps of holy places where the pilgrim had visited such as Ominesan-ji, Kinpusen-ji, Zaodo etc. which are located between Wakayama and Nara prefecture where "shugen-sha ( holy man )" has been practicing Shugendo. Rare Japanese limited edition sosaku hanga woodblock print by Shizuma Uchida (1906-2001) titled "Chichibu Mountainous Region." The title and signature of the artist are in black ink at the lower right with the artist's red seal below. The bottom margin is pencil-signed "S. Uchida," titled in kanji, and numbered 6/20. This plate is a fine example of the work of Hamada Shoji, a well known Japanese master potter. It is 7 ¾ inches in diameter. It carries a letter of authenticity from Mr. Barry Till who is curator of Asian Art, Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. It was purchased in 1967 from a dealer in Hawaii. It is in very good condition.

Antique Chinese fine famille rose porcelain vase with landscape of mountains and lake. The vase is an elegant shape with defined calligraphy. This style of decoration was popular in the 1930s. The base bears the studio name: Yitao Zhai, similar in style to the Society of Eight Friends. Produced by Zhang Zhitang (1893-1971). It measures 14" tall x 6.5" wide.
