A large sculptural vase by Eiraku Zengoro XVI (Sokuzen, 1917-1998) enclosed in the original signed wooden box dating from the 1950s, an era when Japan was redefining its own views on art. This is an excellent example of work from that time. Born into traditional tea ware, Zengoro XVI was with the rest of his compatriots, experimenting with new ideas and new forms, unafraid of a dawning new era. This piece is 35.5 cm (14.5 inches) tall, 17 cm (7 inches) square and in fine condition...

Regal 'Seiji' celedon flower vase in signed original paulownia wood box. The vase itself is a masterpiece of 1950's seiji pottery by one of the best, Einosuke. Very elegant feel and subtle lime green shades. Stands 13" tall and a diameter of 10".

This very well carved ivory erotic netsuke of two couples is 2 5/8” long, 1” high and a little less than one inch thick. It is dated to the 1960’s. There is a carver’s signature on the bottom.

Japanese 20th century tea bowl. The shallowly thrown tea bowl has beautiful gray coloration. Stamp on artist on bottom. The foot of the bowl was hand rolled and pressed onto the bottom of the bowl. The bowl measures 2 1/8" tall, 4 3/4" in diameter at the top and 2 1/4" in diameter at the base.

A lustrous emerald green Chinese Peking Glass brush bowl. It is molded glass with a rounded base. Chinese glass was largely used to imitate more precious materials such as white jade, Lapis Lazuli and other valuable minerals.

Judging by the tomobako, the shifuku, and the patina of the bowl, this piece was likely fired in early Showa (1926 - 1936) when Sosen was thought to be most active.

Perfectly formed and resting firmly on a well-grounded kodai (foot/ pedestal), this chawan is vivid, light in the hand, and has a calming presence. The artist, Asao Sosen (1897 - 1978), was known for making chagama furo (Japanese ornamental brazier used in tea ceremony) as well as “Unge” stoneware of various forms...

This is a pale blue Ando Jubei box depicting a shrine among pine trees, the design flowing down the front side of the piece. Enameled in both standard silver wire and wireless technique and measuring 5.25" x 4", the box is brocade lined and is marked junjin on the inner rim.

Condition: Minor wear to the bottom, and hairlines to the sides of the top as illustrated in the final two photographs.

Japanese pink Coral carving of a Geisha pink with white streaks. The base is cut to fit though tightly the base the figure is smooth with no rough spots the base is slightly uneven but polished so it should be as made please ask for more images if needed . Size overall 2.75" figure alone is just under 2.5" and weighs 11 G

A formal Japanese maru obi with auspicious designs; containers for an old shell matching game, hand drums, fans, ho-o Chinese phoenix bird and kiri leaves. It is made with a thick silk brocade and thick padding. The gold color (genuine gold) is particularly beautiful in this obi. Excellent condition. A pair of boro tabi (socks) made of cotton and indigo dyed. Both soles are lost. The first half of the 20th century. Sashiko is hand-sewn but the light blue reinforcement cloth is machine sewn. L:24cm, H:12cm
