Lovely pair of small Chinese ginger jars measuring only 5.5 inches high including finial and 3.5" in diameter. They feature a beautiful crackle glaze with a polychrome scene depicting warriors in the Battle of the 3 Kingdoms. These jars were last used as a antique decorative item on top of a diminutive slant top writing desk in a NYC Park Avenue Apartment before the family retired to NC.

Exquisitely, embroidery panel from the Yao, sometimes referred as the Mien, ethnic group from northwest Laos near the Vietnamese border. Rumyang represents a prince in his early adulthood. He is sanguine and his moves are quick and passionate. Some wear `height`; 7 3/4" (19.5 cm)

An exceptionally early work in ink and watercolor by the familiar New Mexico artist PERCY TSISETE SANDY ("KAI SA"), 1918-1974. Measurements are 6 1/2" by 4 1/4" (11 3/4" by 9" simply framed). The subject is a traditional eagle dancer of the Hopi people in full costume. The work is signed at lower right "KA-SAH", ("Red Moon"), apparently an early signature; on the old original remaining backing is written in pencil "purchased on Mother & Daddy's honeymoon 7/41"...

This brightly colored child's hat is Dong ethnic minority. The front is decorated with 9 silver Buddha ornaments and lots of intricate embroidery. Tassels and pompoms decorate the sides and silver bells with fish ornaments across the back protect the child from the approach of evil spirits.

A carved and painted wood model of a totem pole of the Tlingit, indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast of North America. Depecting a frog, a whale, a bear and a beaver, the back is inscribed in ink and the base is dated New York, U.S.A. June 1931. Dimensions: c. total 40.1 cm high, diameter stand: c. 7.5 cm. Condition: beautiful patina, few tiny chips and minimal wear, the base with little losses to bark.

Cotton futonji with minimal shibori design whose technique is "Nui-shibori (folded and stitched). It is made in Asamai in Akita prefecture where shibori has been practiced since late 18th century and it was most prosperous in the second half of the 19th century, however it declined rapidly because of the machine spinning and chemical dye developed. Healthy Japanese babies adorn this bright red juban. Made of light weight silk with equally light weight white silk lining, this woman's juban measures 48" across the shoulders (including sleeves) and 50" long. In very good condition, it dates early Showa, 1930, though the collar appears to be newer. This is a very cheerful under garment and would be a fun piece to wear as an outer garment.

Makanai which is a kimono worn at home after work in the Nanbu region, where is the east part of Aomori prefecture. It is made of hemp cloth whose wefts and warps are hand-plied and lightly vegetable indigo dyed. The lining is machine-spun cotton. It has very fine sashiko with indigo dye cotton yarn. In good condition but has light stains in front as well as in the back. The last image is from the book "Michinoku-no-Kohu-no-Sekai" by Tanaka Chuzaburo. Very old Dan mask with circular eyes, protruding forehead, long thin nose, protruding lips, small chin. This mask is of the "gunyeya" type, and was used during the running competitions which were organised to train men to run and fight. It is made of wood, with a fine dark brown glossy patina. Its height: 19.8 cm. The mask is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Africa, Ivory Coast/Liberia, first half of 20th century. Obvious signs of use and age, otherwise very good condition.
