Measuring 15 x 16.5 this embroidered purse from Afghanistan is in excellent condition and dates to the mid to late 20th century. Silk thread on cotton, in satin stich and brick stitch. White beads on corded tassels surround the edges. Condition is excellent. Estimated age late 20th century.
Vintage Folk Art Chinese silk doily embroidered with good luck symbols of butterflies and bats and a centered peony, framed in a black linen border with gray silk binding in period shades of green, purple and hot pink, natural linen backing, easily opens to make a pillow if desired. Size: 13 1/2" x 9 1/4". Pretty design and soft colors, embroidery in fine condition; freyed binding and moderate run of thread colors on silk.

Greyish smooth stoneware, decorated with horizontal grooves, covered with brown iridescent glaze on the outside and with a mottled greenish-yellow glaze on the inside, dripping over the outside edge and down. Black lacquered, diamond-shaped coved. Takatori style, Japan, early Showa era, circa 1930-1950s.

A pair of puttees from northern Afghanistan, hand-embroidered by Uzbek women. Each puttee measures 8.4 cm x 48 cm (3 1/4 x 19 inches)and is hand-embroidered in silk thread on a red cotton ground. The embroidery technique is long and short stitch, typical of Uzbek embroidery. Condition: excellent, no stains, no flaws of any kind. The puttee with the braided thread measures 48 cm x 47 cm.
Typical of the mountainous Swat valley in northern Pakistan, this cushion cover ("thakia" in Urdu) is distinguished by a purple cotton background embroidered in a bright pink, with yellow and sage highlights. This is a very attractive large Chinese wood box with one large and three small shishi(lion-dog) on the porcelain. Old Chinese porcelain was used for this box. It has more of an antique look than in the pictures here. Actual measurements are 8 inches wide x 10 1/4 inches long and 6 inches high.
Set of six (6) Chinese chairs made from pearwood, with beautiful simplicity. All four legs and the underside of the seat are connected with horizontal wooden panels, carved with attractive sloping. The pearwood has a wonderful, warm glow with very attractive patterns in the grain. Comes with six tassled seat cushions.
