Chinese Ming Dynasty Glazed Pottery Sedan Chair (16th Century)

A pottery model of a sedan chair made during the 16th century (c.1550 - 1600). Made from a hard creamy-white pottery and coated in complimentary green and yellow glazes. A nice example with good detail, especially to the pagoda-shaped roof. There is an unusual incised pattern to the flat base, possibly a lotus blossom (?).

Chinese Qing dynasty Kangxi marked monochrome beehive form water coupe (taibo zun) covered overall in a copper red glaze. The slightly recessed flat base and interior are white. Two matching Japanese chargers, done with the Imari pallet, and dating to the mid 19th Century. Decorations include a foo dog, dragons, and cranes among flowers and scrolls. Each dish measures about 12" in diameter and 1 3/4" high and is marked on the back. The condition is excellent/perfect with minor wear. The asking price includes shipping within the USA.

A thick-walled censer, shaped like an urn with “Heaven soaring” handles, standing on a three legged base. Both censer and base have been polished in the past but are now achieving a decent patina. The censer fits the base perfectly. The base has an interesting mark. 19th century.

A very thinly potted small blue and white Ming dynasty saucer. It is so thinly potted that if held against the light, we can see through it. The centre of the saucer has a flower that looks like a lotus pod in a double circle. The porcelain is slightly grayish in colour. It has the Cheng Hua (1465-1487) six character mark and of the period.

There are minor firing faults with frittings and chips along the rim and base. No hair line crack. Generally in good condition.

A rare 18th/19th Century carved agate snuff bottle with, possibly later, silver and rose quartz stopper. On the stopper is inscribed the Shanghai silversmiths "Wen Yuan" who are recorded as having traded from the Jiaqing (1796-1820) reign through until the Republic period (1912- 1949).
