Pair Korean Scholar's Book Chests, four(4) claws Korean Dragon and Phoenix Bird are battling in the flame, inlaid with Mother of Pearl, twisted Brass and faux tortoise shell, 41" high, 27" wide, 12 1/2" deep each in the background of dark brown lacquer with gold powder sparkling finish. This tripod censer is raised on three animal-masked feet that support its large, rounded body. The rim is decorated with a key fret design, and the body has ten lappets composed of stylized mask and key fret designs all in low relief. It retains its original brown patina overall with a deep greenish gray interior from use. Good condition.

A large rosewood, huanghuali brush pot, bitong of simple cylindrical form with thick walls and the base with an inset plug. The wood grain has particularly nice patterns, with a few 'ghost eyes', and a wonderful deep honey-brown patina. H 16 x 16,4 cm Diameter Late Ming/ early Qing Dynasty.
