Very unusual 19th century marine netsuke of obihasami type, the upper hook carved as leaves of a vine holding a long pod, and the lower hook as a snail starting to climb up the body of the netsuke. The hooks at the top and bottom of the piece go around the edges of obi - a sash holding a kimono. Extraordinary clever and subtle piece in Japanese taste, amazing rendition of the soft body of the mollusc. Excellent patina, the best netsuke of that type that I ever had. Length 4 inches.

A small cast iron Japanese tetsubin of slightly flared cylindrical form, decorated in relief to one side with maple leaves floating on a stream against a textured ground. The backside is plain save for the textured ground and the foundry mark for Kinshudo. The cover is flat with a pine cone finial and the handle can be moved to either side. In excellent condition, it measures 2.5 inches high excluding the handle, diameter about 3" at widest. Dates late 19th Century.

The incense burner consists of a thick and solid cast bronze cup which rests on a tripod base also in cast bronze. A cut copper cover is held by a hinge fixed by rivets. Islamic work from the middle east. Very nice old patina of the metal. Bronze very earlier than the 18th century. H:21cm. A hole on the lid (see photo) otherwise good condition.

Two rare well carved Pyu stone elephants. These are a type of micro carvings that the Pyu period is noted for. There are holes drilled in both of the elephants for stringing. Size: See last photo. Condition: No repairs or chips. Some encrustation still adhering to them from long burial that can be removed by soaking.

Unique double diamond Chinese Lacquer Box from the 18th C. The lid of the box has a gold painted mountain scene with two sages near a mountain stream. The crackling of the lacquer indicates the age of the box. The woven wicker inserts encased in a red painted frame on the 8 sides are in pristine condition. Small gold flowers are painted adjacent to the frames. The interior of the box is a large open space.

This unusually long necklace is composed of graduated undyed pink coral beads of slightly compressed spherical form, ranging in tone from light pink to a deeper salmon color. The clasp is an egg-shaped reticulated bronze with a wedge-shaped catch that have both been gilded. Good condition overall with a soft wear and polish to the beads.

This is Swan 's wing Weave haori coat very rare at the end of bakumatsu of Edo period(1852-1867). This was made in the Tohoku region. There are a water-repellent effect and an effect of heat insulation of swan's shuttlecock. Textile seems to be hand spun and woven.It is little, is thin, and it sees. There is no damage. Early 19th century wooden netsuke of a snarling shishi (Buddhist lion) seated on a base. Wood is lacquered in Negoro style - golden lacquer over dark red/brown over black, so as it wears first red, then black and then wood start showing, thus adding yet another color to the piece. Very smart use of lacquering technique, wonderful depiction of its face, ribs and bushy tail, beautiful wear to the surface, really nice feel of age to the piece. Height 1.40 inches.

Exceptional Japanese incense cabinet kodansu in wood covered with a profusion of mother-of-pearl flowers and bone leaves, engraved and inlaid with the shibayama technique. Bottom in nashi-ji lacquer.

This limestone cement image of Quetzalcoatl was found by the famous Dr. Allen Heflin in September of 1954 and is so inscribed on the bottom. It still has its original obsidian eyes. It is 4" long. It is badly weathered, but the features are easily recognizable although the camera did not pick them up fully. It dates to 100BC-200AD. This is an extremely rare piece. I have not seen another.
