This a rare yosegire patchwork kimono is original from the Edo period. The safflower-dyed board pattern is cherry blossoms. The safflower dyeing on the sleeves and waist is a pattern of squeezing, butterflies and waves. The hem has a very impressive ichimatsu and goose pattern. Very high tech shibori and stencil dye. Late Qing Dynasty (pre 1911) Chinese scholar jadeite seal of irregular rectangular shape. Does not photograph well. Wonderful austere piece appropriate for a scholar’s table, pleasant finish to the stone. The bottom is carved with two raised characters, red seal paste in the grooves. Off-white natural untreated jadeite with touch of green and russet skin areas. Imprint of the seal is shown on Enlargement 1. Height 1 11/16 inches.

Early Historic Period Khmer (Cambodia) large kendi jar, 2nd to 8th Century. Pale yellow ware with parallel red lines on rim, neck, and shoulder. Roughly 9 1/2" high by 11 1/2" across. Suspended from a small leather belt loop, this old Mongolian pipe pouch has trekked a long way. This ethnographic relic was clearly hand-made, with a simple closure of leather thongs tied into a traditional knot, and a few beads add a decorative element. A small, charming Korean single section cabinet. Three drawers with persimmon panels line the top of the cabinet, with a set of double doors below, on decorative iron hinges incised with sand dollars, and a central filigree edged lock. The edges of the piece feature iron braces with floral motif studs.
