Antique Chinese small porcelain monochrome vase. Baluster form with high shoulders and tiny mouth. Glazed a subtle celadon color. A small spot on the shoulder where the glaze did not cover adds character and tells a story of the glazing process. The underside is white with two concentric blue rings.

Unusual Japanese two-section choba tansu (merchant's chest), made with Kiri (paulownia) front hardwood, Sugi (cedar) sides, and two large Keyaki (elm) sliding door panels with a roomy, shelved interior space. Each drawer opens with hirute style iron handles and a simple squared lock. Its sides are reinforced with horizontal slats.

An antique Japanese 2 section Nagoya Mizuya Tansu (kitchen chest) made of Hinoki (Cypress) wood. Cast iron hardware including the Warabite handles. Upper half features 2 pairs of sliding doors and a set of three side by side drawers. Lower half has 2 sliding doors with 2 side by side drawers. The shallow design would accommodate the narrowest of hallways.

An antique Japanese Buddhist family altar called Butsudan in 2 sections. All lacquer finish with gilt lacquer interior. Exterior doors open to inner sanctum doors. Upper transom was hand carved with religious figures meditating in a wooded forest. The altar features a centerpiece dragon with 3 flying Phoenix birds above each compartment. Late Meiji (1890s to 1912) Japanese chaire (tea caddy for storing powdered green tea used in tea ceremony) in a shape of a storage jar with 4 mock lug handles. Buff colored stoneware body with free bulbous body bearing the marks of potter’s fingers as he was turning the piece on a wheel. Beautiful glaze turning from brown to off-white towards the bottom of the piece. Comes with very well made shifuku (silk brocade storage bag). Old bone lid lined with gold leaf paper on the inside...

It features iron hardware with heart motifs, five drawers with hirute shaped handles and elegant backings and locks, and a bottom corner lockbox with two small drawers hidden inside. Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Censer, 3 1/4" high, 7" diameter-top rim, 3 5/8" diameter-bottom rim, Ca. between 1880 - 1920, with underglaze blue bands of geometric Chinese symbol decoration outside, inside half way down is unglazed. Bottom outside is unglazed with some black script. The condition is good, no damage.

A real cute, Kawai miniature Kyusu style teapot for green tea with a side handle, made in the tradition of (Otagaki) Rengetsu yaki, from Okasaki production center, Kyoto. Chamotte with a nice craquelure glaze. Size L 10 x h 4 cm. Otagaki Rengetsu (1791–1875) was a Buddhist nun, famous for her calligraphy but also for her production of ceramics for tea appreciation which she would embellish with her poems. Meiji 1868-1912. Good condition.
