Japanese tall Kiri wood Hibachi, low relief Lacquered Bird on Grape vine, Ca. late Meiji period, 1910's, 11 1/4" high, 5 1/2" wide-widest part, 4 1/2" x 5" wide-top rim, the condition is good.

Covered with green celadon to the footring with incised flower on the center, unglazed base. Diameter = 13.5 cm, height = 6.5 cm. Yuan Dynasty. Excellent condition, no chips, cracks, hairlines and free from restorations.

Chinese Export Porcelain Chinese Imari pattern Tea Bowl and Saucer, Ca. mid to late 1700's, 2 7/8" high & 1 5/8" diameter-tea bowl, 4 7/8" diameter, 1? high-saucer, divided into 4 sections, alternate with underglaze blue and overglaze enamel iron red floral decoration, with some gold highlight. It is in good condition, no damages.

A pair of coral ground tea bowls, c 1900. Enamelled decoration in blue and green with black transfer printed contours. Pendant of rectangular shape ending in a triangle on its top, with a loop for possible attachment to a necklace. The pendant is decorated with an embossed design of tribal style representing Hindu god Virabhadra standing with his four arms and weapons/attributes, and surrounded by a dotted aureola. Bronze, with fine reddish green patina. India, 18th century. Height: 5.3 cm. Very good condition.

Lovely pair of exquisite, miniature porcelain vases with Ge type glaze circa mid-20th century (possibly older). On the bottom there are two characters “ya wan”, meaning elegant entertainment. 19th century Japanese bronze tea ceremony hibashi (long metal chopsticks for handling charcoal in hibachi brazier) with finials in a form of heads of the Fungus of Immortality. These hibashi are for use in the summer time (winter ones have top half covered in wood). Finely made of bronze with high copper contents, beautiful casting and chiseling of the fungus, embossed areas at the working end for better handling of charcoals. Superb patina, beautiful wear, pleasantly heavy. Length 11 inches.

Wonderful potting with great facial expression and well delineated feathers, beautiful crackled glaze, red and black enamels. Bottom shows the seal of the potter. Wonderful piece in Japanese taste. Unusual collection of 6 old “prayer cloths” from a Taoist Master’s ceremonial robe (see last enlargement). For generic purpose’s these should be considered to be from the Mien group as they came from Vietnam and are circa 50 to 60 years old- woven from handspun cotton. They all have the same basic pattern indicating they are probably from the same priest’s outfit. These used to be quite easy to get about 20 years ago but now almost impossible to find...

The size of Tabacco Ire: 6 3/8" Long x 2" Wide x 7/8" Thick. Very unuusal Japanese Tabacco Ire set. The pipe holding case made of Bamboo work with clasp made with tin plated on brass. Bamboo work done well weaving. Tabacco case made by silk brocde. It has brass part. The condition of Tabacco Ire, very good except some wear on back of string area and a couple of other place. And tin plate some worn. Early Meiji, 1870-1880...

Rare “kiln waster” possibly from the Qingliangsi Kiln, Baofeng, Henan- see reference in last enlargement. D: 11.8cm/4.7in and H: 4cm/1.6in. Very shiny black glaze. There is one star crack on the side as well as “slag” adhesions on the rim. Please examine enlargements. May still be used for tea ceremony if you don't mind a little "wabi sabi"

Late 19th century Japanese stoneware kogo (box for incense during tea ceremony) in a form of Daikoku holding a rice bale in front of him. Daikoku is one of the 7 Gods of Good Fortune, that of rice, and, as a consequence, of wealth. Stoneware with wonderful potting, beautiful celadon glaze, very pleasant patina.
