This small carved jade plaque was certainly the element of the central part of a Ruyi scepter, a symbol of the power of Chinese leaders. The plaque is finely carved with deep patterns, we can distinguish a bat, a symbol of happiness, and a vase of lotus flowers. The vase could mean abundance and the flowers seem to be Buddhist Lotuses unless they are immortal peonies.
