A pair of Chinese porcelain bowls decorated with peonies. The bowl contains a short poetic inscription which generally states: As if (one is) cherishing the beautiful, likewise at the moment (the flowers) are displaying its colors. An elaborately decorated lacquered sword stand. The stand is made into a small chest with three drawers. The chest is decorated with motifs of plums, a phoenix, and a Chinese style landscape with inlaid embellishments. The interior of the drawers is done in nashiji or pear skin makie. Antique Japanese lacquered samurai sword stand,holds five swords. The stand is simply done in black lacquer with gold paintings on the front and back panels. The bridge of the stand is decorated with a view of Mount Fuji divided into two sections. One side shows Mount Fuji with a dragon ascending the peak of the mountain. The other side shows the foothills of mount Fuji with a view of the bay of Tago (Tago no Ura). Age: 19th century. Size: length: 19.5" width 7.5" height: 19"
It is indigo dyeing cotton Yogi of the Edo era. It uses technique of the ombre dyeing. It is dyeing of the high technique.
It is handspan, handwoven and it is dyed with an indigo plant of nature. It has several places of repair traces. There is not the stain.
It is all original in the Edo era.

A splendid tea container decorated with hydrangeas done in makie. The container is known as a hira natsume, where the wide structure is a signature element. Motif of hydrangeas are associated with the mid summer- monsoon season in Japan and often seen in summer tea gatherings. Age: Taisho Period Size: diameter 3" height 2.25"
An unusual hira natsume decorated with motifs of a cicada, dragonfly, spider, snail, cricket, and frog. A few insects are closely associated with the various seasons. For example, the cicada and snail are summer insects, the dragonfly and cricket are autumn. In addition, the insects have allusions to zen and Japanese philosophies. An antique blue and white Imari porcelain decorated with landscapes and ginko leaves. The landscape is portraying the view of the noted Song Dynasty literati scholar, Su Dongpo having a boat ride at Red Cliff. The motif is based on a hand scroll written by Su Dongpo reminiscing of the fun he had with his friends and the poems that were composed. The inscription is a summary of the landscape and the party he held on the boat. Age: Meiji Period Size: diameter 8" height 4"
A finely done red kutani dish decorated with a dragon flying among the clouds surrounded by scrolling waves and a peony like floral pattern. The bottom of the plate is decorated with dragons and clouds done in an archaic-like style design. The work contains an inscription reading, kutani. This is a beautifully rendered Japanese Tetsubin. Done in Iron with gorgeous mixed metal inlays of gold and silver. Portrays persimmon fruit branch with birds an Maple tree leafs representing Fall. Signed Lid on bottom reads Ryubundo, the noted studio that produced cast iron tea kettles.

Japanese plique-a-jour bowl with roses and plum blossoms. The bowl has a silver rim and small feet. Red roses with blue and maroon plum blossoms on a green ground. It measures 3.25" diameter, 2" tall. Meiji Period 1868-1912.
Beautiful Japanese antique highly carved butsudan panel, carved with scene of two dragons in swirling clouds and crashing waves, black and gilt lacquer with details in red, the eyes of the dragons are made of reverse painted glass, framed in black lacquer frame with copper hardware. This piece was once a ranma or transom over the interior doors of a large Buddhist butsudan shrine.

A large Kansai area issho tansu made from keyaki and sugi woods. Copper handles are used on the sliding door panels and a special cabinet with a lock is set on the bottom area of the chest. Tansu such as these were often placed in the private quarters of the home and clothes, family documents, and important objects were placed inside. Japanese lacquer box form the Meiji/Taisho period circa 19th century. Decorated with gold flowering clematis vines on dark brown lacquer interior with gold rim inset and shallow tray. Accented with gilt fittings with paulownia decoration and ring handles.

Japanese bronze vase with flaring rim. The slender body with a coiled Dragon in relief. 19thC. Height 8 5/8" (21.9cm). Condition: very good.
A dish in the form of an auspicious Manchurian Red Crowned Crane decorated in green, black and iron red enamels with gilding. Dating Kyoho in period circa 1710-30. The dish measures approximately 17cm in wingspan and approximately 13 cm from tail to head. It is in good condition with no cracks, chips or restoration some very minor wear to the enamels and kiln flaws.
