This very well carved gold gilt wood Buddha (Japanese name is Amida Nyorai or Amida Butsu.) is 18 ½” high, 7” wide and 6” thick (including base), the Buddha is 11 ¾” high, 3 ½” wide and 3” thick. It is a mid or late 18th century piece. His right hand facing outward means wisdom and his left hand facing downward means compassion. The halo on the back is missing. Aside from missing small pieces on the base and gold gilt lacquer lost from the robe, it is in excellent condition.

Sensational bronze egret `Koro` incense burner from the Taisho Period C.1915. Used for the tea ceremony. Delicately balanced on two legs, the egret seems to bee feeding or looking for its feed. The movement in the sculpture is fantastic. In very good condition. Ask for shipping quote.

A collaboration piece between the famed poet/ nun of the late Edo period Rengetsu and her younger protege Tessai, this scroll depicts a frightened cricket making his way to the top of a stalk of grass on a windy day. Set in the fall season, the viewer can imagine a message of frailty, loneliness, and possibly the feeling of trepidation that accompanies the turning of the seasons towards the colder months...

This is the kimono which a girl wore for the Taisho era period. The pattern is ball and Spinning top and others. A color is pretty, and this is stylish. There are 2.3 places of small stains, but does not stand out. There is no damage. Size 92cm x 81cm (36.2 "x 31.8")

An antique Japanese bronze temple bell known as a Bonsho with a carrying handle depicting diverging dragon heads called Ryuzu. The upper protrusions called chi chi or nye improves the resonance of sound. There are two opposing striking panels called Tsuki-za upon which the bell should be struck for the best and longest sound. Large bells such as this one are found in Buddhist temples throughout Japan and they are used to summon the monks to prayer...

A Japanese priest's silk ouhi (Buddhist priest's ritual arm - shoulder covering), the green/gray/black brocade silk with an overall design of cranes, pine, stylized shells, verlaid with white line divisions and asymetric gold thread kikyo (Chinese bell flower) designs, pale pink silk liner. Late Edo period. Dimensions - 11 1/8" x 54".

This is indigo dye thick of the Edo era cotton tsutsugaki noren. It is made of hand-spun and hand-woven and natural indigo dyed cotton. The neighboring brown can be dyed in persimmon juice. It has a few stains. However, it does not stand out. It is in state that there is not damage and is very good. I recommend this to collection of you. size:135cm x 94cm (53.1" x 37")

Late Meiji (1890s to 1912) Japanese temple boxwood seal of round section with original boxwood cover. Excellent quality crisp carving in seal script, old red seal paste in the grooves. Plastic peg indicates the position of the top of the imprint. Beautiful patina on the surface of wood, signs of use adding to the presence of the object. The impression of the seal is shown on Enlargement 4 (photo is flipped left to right to present the image as it will print on paper)...

1890s (late Meiji period) Japanese cloisonne napkin ring with decoration of butterflies in flight among various flowers. Excellent quality work, vibrant colors, gilding to metal parts (worn from age), no cracks or losses. Diameter 1 7/8 inches, width 1 inch.

Antique Japanese fireman's helmet, or kaji kabuki. Made from iron and copper plated, with red lacquer front bill incised with smoke clouds. Beautiful lotus shaped finial details the top of the helmet. Round kanji emblems on its sides. Iron display stand is also included. Original finish and condition. An Oribe Ware plate with the impressed mark Rihei. 10" in diameter, the foot and base is carved. Decorated with a grove of pine trees, a village to the rear, a rock outcrop to the left, all painted in iron brown, accented with a splash of deep green glaze.
