Small pipe in cast bronze or brass, decorated with a very elegant incised geometric decoration, inspired by textiles. Japanese work from the 19th century or before. Very nice finish. Bamboo tube. Good condition, no restoration. Natural use wear for a century-old bronze object. Length:20.2mm

This adorable antique Japanese Sumida Gawa vase has turned iron-red body, neck covered with a glaze of various shades of grey, green and black dripping down the shoulder and into the mouth. With children carrying a Buddhist drum and seated on the side of the vase. This piece is signed on a glazed plaque on side.

Condition: The vase is in good overall condition. As the photos show there is minor old damage; one of child's hand is missing and there is a crack on the body...

Japanese Satsuma foliate form bowl decorated in overglaze pigments and gilt highlights with a large bird in a cherry tree at the foreground set against a landscape scene with beauties in a pavilion at the right and a waterfall at the left. The exterior features three flying female mythological figures. The base bears a gold on black square “Satsuma Hotoda” mark and circular Satsuma family crest. 4 1/4” diameter x 1 3/4” high. Meiji period (late 19th century)...

Unusual late Meiji period (1890s -1912) wooden sashi netsuke in a form of a pillar, its top carved as a face of the Zen Patriarch Daruma wearing monk’s cape. Wonderful face with severe expression, carved out of chosen matsu (Korean pine wood) in ittobori (one cut) style characteristic of Hida school of netsuke carvers, eyes are inlaid with metal. Himotoshi (cord opening) goes through the bottom to the back of the netsuke. Beautiful patina, very pleasant to hold. Height 4.2 inches.

19th century wooden netsuke of a theatrical mask of O-Beshimi skillfully carved in characteristic ittobori (one cut) style typical for the Hida school. Pupils are inlaid in brass, golden paing highlights, excellent rendition of facial expression, wonderful mellow patina. Signed RYOSEI (alternative reading is Ryusho) on the back. Height 2 inches.

Japanese Meiji Period lacquered comb. The base of the comb is lacquered in gold and brown lacquer with hawk and pine design. The comb has wonderful carved design of a hawk on each side with small gold inlays. Unsigned. Minor rubbing on side edges. The comb measures 3 3/8" long by 1 5/8" tall.

Antique ukiyo-e woodblock print of a woman in a blue checkered kimono, standing with her back to her front doors and a beautiful mountainous scene behind her. By artist Kunisada, signed under his assumed name Toyokuni II. Set behind glass in a large frame. Back of frame states "censor's seal between 1859 and 1874". This lacquer box of square form has three slightly raised gold lacquer family crest designs on the lid. The well-polished black lacquer covers the interior and exterior of the box which is of a finely constructed wood core. The lid has a slight lip extending from the lower edge. The crest designs are very well painted and incorporate a very fine raised gold stippling in areas...

Fine Japanese antique engraved damascene cigarette case, observe side decorated with landscape scene and reversed side with boats and birds in flight, inside box is also decorated with birds in flight, late 19th century period. Size; length of case is 3 1/2 inches with a minor dent to the upper right side.

A Fine Large Japanese Imari Bowl, Meiji, 19th Century.

A fine and substantial Arita Imari rinka bowl. Six panels, inside and out, are alternatively decorated with ho-o birds and flowers.

The centre of the bowl depicts the shochikubai, the three friends of winter. A suggestion of breaking waves can also be observed to the left of the screens.

This is genuine Japanese Shoki Imari Excavated Chawan (Bowl).
It is dated from early Shoki Imari which dated back to 1630-50 maybe
little earlier. Shoki Imari did not have the process of making porcelain with bisque,
glazed then design painted. Porcelain making process skipped
bisque and glaze making, rather they put right into glazing and painting design done
in same time...

AN ARITA BLUE & WHITE MOKKO DISH, 2ND HALF OF THE 18TH CENTURY.

An attractive mokko (lobed) and moulded dish decorated with a figure seated beneath mist enshrouded trees. The cavetto is moulded with swirls and flowers, the rim with a dark iron rich kuchibeni dressing.
