This is Tsutsugaki Yogi of the indigo dyeing tea service set of the Edo era. The cotton is spun by hand and is very thick. A color of the cloth is deep green. The green dyeing needs a technique higher than the dyeing only for indigo plants. Therefore it is a color required to the item of the upper class. This is Rikushaku-kanban where cotton cloth spun by hand for Edo period was used for. This cotton has the good feel. As for this, a crest is a letter of Kotobuki. The letter of Kotobuki expresses words and a ceremony of the celebration. A letter and the pattern of the cross filler are dyed in Tsutsugaki. This has a stain in several places. A pair of Arita plates decorated in underglaze blues with enamels. The centre painted with a large tripod censer containing Spring flowering Peonies on a low table flanked by a pair of flower vases, containing Autumn flowering Pinkes and Chrysanthemums with a pair of birds. The rim painted with a pair of Hoo birds with Chrysanthemums and Peonies. This 19th century Japanese unsigned hardwood okimono of SENNIN (hermit or immortal) is 2 1/8 inches tall, 1 inch wide and 1 ¼ inches in depth. He is carrying a basket of vegetables, and a small double gourd tied on his back. His right hand is missing; there are some chips on his nose, sleeves and both shoes.

This is a horse cover in Edo period. It is very cotton of wonderful tsutsugaki. The touch of cotton is very nice. The wave and the motif of the family crest are very impressive with the rabbit. There is a little small hole. However, the state is very good. This is the one in the Tohoku region. size:127cm50" x 57cm/22.4"

This is a signed 8" Satusma vase in the form of a bucket. It is decorated quite nicely with hand painted landsacpes and birds.

Condition: Excellent, no chips, cracks, or repairs.

The dish decorated with a snowflake shaped, yukiwa, roundel containing various autumn flowers, akikusa, set against a lilac coloured ground, set against a blue cloissone ground inset with flowers and butterflies. Japanese boxwood okimono of family of 5 octopi surrounding two octopus-catching jars. The bottom contains a signature and kao (a unique signature) by Masanao. Age Meiji period (19th century). Size: Length: 3.25" Width:2.8" Height:4.26"

Japanese Kesa, Buddhist priests' robe, "ro" summer silk. 44 1/2" x 77", the color changed evenly to a tannned tone. There are some stains in the front and back, and the handle and the folding lines in the back are soiled.

This is Edo yosegire Patchwork itajime katazome chirimen-silk kimono in Edo period(1603-1868). This is very beautiful yosegire kimono. In the skirt part of the lining, it is cotton and there is damage. There is a little, thin stain. However, it is not remarkable. This very well carved and designed Japanese ivory okimono is 5 ¾ inches high, 2 ¼ inches wide and 1 ¾ inches deep (measure from the base). It depicts a Buddha standing on the back of a dragon which is rising from an ocean wave. It has great patina. There is a red maker’s mark on the bottom. Aside from an old loss which had been re-carved and polished, it is in excellent condition.
