An antique Japanese Chobako (merchant box) made of Sugi (Cryptomeria) and Kiri (Paulownia) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware. Hinged safety door protects 6 drawers that were used for various merchant supplies, valuables and papers. Upper carrying handle used to move piece to various locations.

Japanese Antler Netsuke and Leather Tobacco Pouch with Glass Ojime, 19th Century, Leather Pouch-4" x 3 3/8" wide, Glass Ojime-1/2" diameter, and Netsuke-1 1/4" x 1 1/8" wide, 3/4" high, carved Antler Netsuke is a shape of Tree Branch, plus Glass Ojime. Netsuke and Ojime are in good condition, the Leather Pouch shows a lot of wears but no damages.

Rare antique Japanese choba tansu made of keyaki (elm) wood with beautiful grain. Two full width drawers, one on top and one on the bottom. The center of the chest has three small drawers in a vertical row on the right. A large compartment with an interior shelf has an unusual lift out door. Iron hardware includes cross bracing on the lift out panel and square shaped handles. Beautiful original deep brown translucent lacquer finish. Edo period: Early 19th century...

This very well carved and colored Japanese polychrome ivory carving of a Chinese style lady is a mid or late 19th century product. It depicts a lady who wears a simple but elegant elaborate silk robe. She holds a peony blossom in her left hand and a fan in her right hand. It is 8 ½” high and 2” wide from the round base. 19th century wooden netsuke of a slightly inebriated dancer with a fan in his hand. Wood is lacquered in Negoro style - red (or golden brown) lacquer over black, so as it wears the black starts showing. Beautifully carved drunken facial expression, really nice feel of age to the piece, very pleasantly worn. Height 2 inches.

Japanese Metal Tsuba shape Ojime, Ca. 1900 Meiji, 7/16" high, 7/16" wide, decorated with the raised gilded Birds on the Plum Flowering Trees on the both sides of the two(2) shades of Bronze color of shape of the Tsuba, one side is darker than the other. Cord go through the holes on the top and the bottom and connect with Netsuke.
