19th century bronze ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) in ball shape with relief decoration of several peony flowers. Wonderful work, traces of gilding, nice feel of age, pleasant patina. Height 9/16 inches.

Unusual 19th century Hirado Japanese porcelain brush rest in a shape of a karako (Chinese boy) lying on his stomach with his head and feet raised, his head is moveable. The size of Imari Bowl: 6 1/4" Dia x 2 1/8" H.. This is unusual design of geese flying with gold cloud and moon over Susuki Grass(Japanese pampass Grass and wild flowers.) The design like Ogata Korin's. The inner border with red band with gold. It is deeper than regular Namasu bowl and little bigger. Outside bowl has nice Karakusa design in blue under glaze and lavender color painting. The condition of bowl excellent, no chip, no crack, and no hairline. No scratch on the surface...

19th century miniature Hirado porcelain sculpture of a reclining karako (Chinese boy) leaning on his right hand. Excellent crisp modeling with incised details - see his superb dreamy face, well defined hands and clothing details. Beautiful glaze with numerous tiny bubbles giving it depth, unglazed bottom. The line seen on the left side of his face is not a repair, but an original firing crack that got filled with glaze during firing, very pleasant to the touch...

Late Taisho - early Showa (1920s) small Japanese 2-toned chosen matsu (Korean pine wood) okimono of a floating mandarin duck. Perfectly captured essence of the bird, excellent sense of volume, skillfully carved in characteristic style of Hida school with clever use of wood colors and structure to add to the charm of the piece. Eyes inlaid in dark horn, superb patina. Signed SHOO on the bottom. Length 2 1/4 inches.

A Fukagawa tea cup and 5 3/8 inch tea saucer dish. Iris decoration from Chuji Fukagawa's own 19th century design book. Blue underglaze and red, yellow and gold overglaze enamel decoration. Mt. Fuji mark in underglaze blue inside the foot rings. Late Meiji or early Taisho. Good condition. Priced for each cup and saucer, there are now three cups and saucers available. An unusual dish of mokkogata “melon” form decorated with a central motif of Tojin, Chinese or possibly Korean or Manchu figures in a Temple landscape with Hexagonal panels depicting Chinese boys playing, “karako kigi-zu” set against a ground of tama, pearls, and fronds. The boys are equipped with various items including fans and drumsticks to beat the partially obscured drum or gong...

Late Meiji - early Taisho (1900-1920) wooden Japanese okimono of an actor wearing a voluminous robe and holding a scroll on one hand. Skillfully carved out of chosen matsu (Korean pine wood) in ittobori (one cut) style characteristic of Hida school of netsuke carvers with clever use of wood grain as element of design - in this case almost forming deliberate patterns on the robe. Raku-yaki tea bowl for tea ceremony. Raku-yaki is hand-shaped with pallet but not with the potter's wheel. This bowl has pinkish glaze and nice grey glaze in the bottom inside. 18th or 19th century. In good condition. Diameter:13cm Height:9cm

A sample book of wa-sarasa (Japanese sarasa) with 106 fragments on 43 sheets of paper board, mostly made in Meiji period (1869～1912) and some from early Taisho period (1910s). Originally it has 45 sheets, but 2 (3rd and 20th) are lost. The dye techniques are katazome (stencil-resist-dye) and print. The book is published by Kyoto Shoin in Showa 42 (1967). The 4th among limited 60 issues. 27cm x 35cm x 5cm.

18th century or earlier Japanese magatama bead made out of muddy green jadeite. Magatama are curved beads which first appeared in Japan during the Jomon period (circa 1000 BCE), and in Korea during the Prehistoric period, mainly in the Bronze Age and Neolithic. They are found in mounded tumulus graves as offerings to deities, and continued to be popular with the ruling elite throughout the Kofun Period, and are often romanticized as indicative of the Yamato Dynasty of Japan...
