19th century staghorn Asakusa School netsuke carved as an old square coin on a coiled ribbon, which was traditionally used to hold coins together. Clever design, netsuke is essentially a wish for wealth, great quality carving. There are some natural lines in the material, but no cracks or repairs. Beautifully stained, superb mellow patina. Wonderful subtle piece in Japanese taste. Length 1 1/2 inches.

The mid 19th century carved nut (tagua) netsuke is 1 ¾” long, 1 ¼” wide and 1 3/8” thick. It depicts a Shi Shi mask and an old man emerging from a cloth bag. There is an artist’s signature on the side. Aside from a few hair line cracks, it is in excellent condition.
Late Meiji to early Taisho (1890s to 1920) lacquered wood netsuke representing a Gigaku theater mask of Baramon - a brahmin of the priestly Indian caste. Rather rare mask, superb quality wonderfully expressive face, lighter wood (probably ichii - Japanese yew wood), excellent use of silvery lacquer. Height 2 1/8 inches.
This middle or late 18th century Japanese wood netsuke is 3 ¼ inches tall, 1 inch wide and ¾ inch thick. It was carved from unknown softwood and not signed. It depicts a famous Chinese historical character GUAN YU. His right hand is holding a weapon (long handled knife) and his left hand is holding a book called ¡°Spring-Autumn Annals¡±. It is in great condition.

This 19th century Japanese unsigned hardwood netsuke of JUROJIN is 2 inches tall, 1 inch wide and ¾ of inch thick. It depicts JUROJIN with both hands in his sleeves in front of him. It is in perfect condition.
Two very rare Ko-imari rice bowls from the Genroku period. C. 1690-1710. These are just gorgeous, the bottoms are painted in the chevron pattern, and various geometrical patterns of roundels with honey comb patterns throughout. Two dragons adorn either side of each cup and each surrounded with colors of iron red and green enamels with gold gilt accents.
