Tsuba in shakudo decorated with a floral basket flown over by butterflies. Inlays (Taka Zogan) in solid gold, in fact the flowers are not in gilded copper as usual but in cast solid gold. The nanako background is particularly regular and deep. The artist used gold of two shades, a pure yellow and a pale yellow probably due to the addition of platinum or silver. Anonymous despite the excellent quality. Japan 19th century or before. 76x4mm

This hemp Kyogen costumes hakama was used by Kyogen actors in the Edo period(1800-1867). The light green color is dyed by mixing natural bark and indigo dye.It's a very natural and beautiful color. This hemp is hand spun. Round flowers and maple patterns are impressive. This one has some wear and tear due to age. There are several small holes here. Recommended for antique textile collections. An antique Japanese choba tansu (merchant's chest) made of kiri (paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including stylized gumbai handles. Two sliding kiri wood panels framed in black lacquer over two large drawers for safe keeping of inventory. Iron drawer corners feature raised seed pods suggesting this chest originated in the Yonezawa region of Japan.

This is dyed with an artistic portrait of a lion and Katazome of the peony pattern and a brown plain fabric. There is small holes and damage ,thin stains. However, the condition is good generally. Cast bronze vase. Very elegant unusual shape. Decorated with a dragon in high relief. Probably Japanese rather chinese and very old Edo period, 18th century or before. The metal has an excellent patina of a beautiful brown color. Below a mark with Chinese characters. 205mm x 185mm. Slightly dented, barely visible. Original patina, not cleaned.

Ink and polychromy on silk. Charming kakemono of a musician on horseback holding her samisen. A child holds out a side of her richly decorated kimono. Courtesans seem to relax. One with a fan has lost her sandal (zori) while the other 2 are preparing to enjoy a tea. A poem at the top of the painting describes the scene. It is signed by 2 stamps which can attribute this painting to Kitagawa Fujimaro (1760-1850). Dimensions of the painting: H112 x W45.5cm.
