A beautiful image of a massive swimming carp - a noble fish. Finely painted on silk with ink. The signature reads shikibuno sato yusen hironobu. Kano Hironobu(1778-1814) was active in the late Edo period. He inherited the hamacho kano family and became a court painter. In 1808, he granted an important title Hogen, which was given to extraordinary artist.

There are some light marks and crease present, otherwise the piece is in good condition...

An interesting set of two Chinese Canton paintings depicting two festival scenes that were possibly seen on the streets in China during the Qing dynasty. The top view depicts a figure riding a horse and people are flocking to receive blessings. The bottom scene is showing a theatrical troupe passing by. One scene appears to show a soldier like figure coming back or meeting a lady and another scene is depicting a family at leisure. Particular elements have elements similar to Chinese theatrical costuming and designs. The techniques are more Western since these works were made in Guangzhou in the Canton concessions. A refined antique Chinese painting done in a style similar to Western style paintings. These paintings were thought to be done in the Canton Concessions in Guangzhou during the late 19th century. Often these works depicted scenes of daily life in the streets of the Qing Period. This particular view is showing two martial artists showing their skills. Antique Chinese snuff bottle made of peking glass (Tao Liao Ping), with an orange background and white and bright green glass overlay, hand carved into the shape of flowers on a vine. The artist would have started with a single-colored glass,dipped the bottle into the white and green glass to create layers, and then carved away the excess. 19th century Size: 2 3/8" tall, 1" wide

The Shallow circular dish tapering to a raised ring foot, decorated with inlaid white slip, the interior with a centural flowerhead medallion surrounded by band of smaller impressed flowerheads and stylized curtain rope pattern, the exterior applied with a luster celadon glaze over all, base unglazed. Late Ming Dynasty, 1500s

This deep bowl is stoutly potted, being rather heavy toward the base, with the wall thinning gradually to the slightly flaring rim. It rests on a tall, thick footring, with a deep base that is glazed down to the dense, white porcelain paste that is exposed with some kiln grit adhering. The design in underglaze cobalt blue is of chrysanthemums, grasses and three stylized bats...

This is a great Japanese cloisonne bowl. We are quite confident the artist was Kumeno. The bowl while being very attractive does have some condition issues. There are lines and some slight enamel loss but it is still a dazzling display piece. The bowl measures 5 1/2 inches across and is 3 1/2 inches tall.

Very detailed repousse made of copper depicting the Hindu deity Krishna, seen holding a spear in one hand and some sort of vine in the other. He has worshippers on either side of him, adorned in lavish jewelry, headdresses, and scarves. Behind Krishna is the winged holy being Garuda, who serves as the mount to Lord Vishnu. 19th century. Comes with metal stand. Size: 7.75" diameter

Japanese wooden Money box, Coin Box used in Shrine or Temple Prayer's Alter, later part of Meiji period, late 1800's, 10" high, 10" wide, 15 1/2" deep, with black wrought iron lock compartment, round flower shape button slide from left to right to open. The top front section lift up and open the box, there are round coin slot and paper money slot on top. This is all original condition and some scratches on wooden surface, no major damage.

DESCRIPTION: A fine, large Chinese boxwood toggle in the shape of a Chinese coin with four script characters on each side surrounding the square hole. Around the edge, various plant and animal forms are carved in high relief, including a flower, bird, squirrel and bat. The suspension cord, connecting it to an object such as a tobacco pouch, would have been strung through the openings under the bat's wings. Wonderful patina, excellent condition, and dating from the 1800's or earlier...
