Chinese porcelain planter in a squared form tapering slightly towards the base, incised with imagery of birds perching, grapes and coiling vines, blooming flowers against a yellow enamel ground. The upper and lower part of the planter with bands of archaic scrolls in cobalt blue. The rim has red floral scrolling motifs. The base is marked "China" in red. With dense carved wooden stand of an inverted lotus form.

Late 19th century game counter with rosewood body and 8 marine material tabs, each carved with a monkey in a different attitude. Excellent quality carving - see their fine hairwork, expressive faces and dynamic postures. Counters like this one were used to keep score in the game of whist and became a popular export item to the West in the late 19th century. An antique Japanese Isho Tansu (Kimono chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware and wiped lacquer finish. Comprised of 4 large drawers and a hinged security door housing 2 small drawers where valuables were hidden. A trick secret box was hidden behind the bottom small drawer with access by removing the bottom large drawer and reaching behind the small drawer.

A very rare and unusual large Chinese scroll painting done in the Japanese style of a bird in a cage with a bamboo tree and netting. Some gold leaf work on the leaves. This antique type of metal work was common in Nepal during the 1800's and into the early 1900's. The birds beak is carved from bone which is dyed to color. The "jewels" are colored glass i.e. enamel drops of orange, turquoise and dark brown. Beak to tail tip the bird measures 3.5 inches and stands 2 inches high. Very good condition with one "jewel" missing on the side.

This Chinese Double handled Cloisonné cup has its original blown cobalt blue glass insert...
