Antique Thai/Burmese Sanskrit book fragments, called a "parabaik", which were once majorly used to document societal information through text and drawings. Made from thick sheets of paper, either blackened for text or whitened for colored drawings, which were then glued and folded together. This book fragment has a central black panel, with religious Sanskrit text in gilt, and gilt pigment figures kneeling in prayer on either side...

Late 19th century to early Taisho period Japanese netsuke (can be viewed as a small okimono) carved as three wise monkeys performing their habitual "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” routine in an unusual way by servicing each other: Mizaru with covered eyes, Kikazaru with covered ears and Iwazaru with covered mouth. Nice faces and hairwork, good depiction of limbs, light staining, himotoshi (cord openings) are formed by their limbs, pleasant patina. Length 2 5/8 inches.

Antique Japanese blackwood netsuke carving of a Hanna Noh theatre mask, with piercing gilt eyes and teeth, pointed ears and two short horns. The Hannya (般若) mask is a mask used in Noh theater, representing a jealous female demon. It possesses two sharp bull-like horns, metallic eyes, and a leering mouth. The backside of the netsuke has a calligraphy inscription / signature.

Antique Chinese porcelain tea caddy featuring a 4 clawed dragon and a phoenix surrounded by clouds on the front and back. The colors are vibrant and it is in very good condition, save for a chip on one corner that appears to have been reglued. Study the third photo very carefully. Originally, this graceful sculpture may have stood at the doorway of a palace or temple as a warning to all malicious spirits not to enter. The tradition of lions guarding doors and gates is ancient and common to a great variety of cultures, including the Egyptians, Assyrians, Romans, and Chinese. There is a strong Chinese influence in this piece, suggesting open relations between the two cultures.

Antique Chinese Pao Tao Peking rug, hand-woven in unusual purple and grey coloration, accented by splashes of bright blue, with a nature scene of a deer beside a flowing river, arching his neck up towards a crane flying overhead. Over the crane hangs the branch of a pine tree with lingzhi mushrooms growing on the trunk. This auspicious imagery of a deer, crane, and pine tree together represents flourishing greens under heaven and on earth and is thought to bring longevity...

This embroidery panel was originally the front bodice of a dress...Hand embroidered over several layers of heavy fabric and using mirrors and silver and gold metallic threads...this dress bodice was a show piece probably used only for important occasions i.e. weddings etc. Very ornately embroidered, this panel measures 19 x 22 inches. the picture of the back side of the bodice indicates serious wear and age...

This Meiji period Japanese netsuke is hand carved and represents a mask of Okame aka Ko-omote the young girl of the Noh theater. Material appears to be ivory.

A Persian nargileh water pipe cup "qalian" in conical form, made of brass or copper, maybe with gilding. Engraved and embossed decoration of flowers and calligraphy. Condition: traces of usage, rims slightly dented, some discolored areas, (please look at the photos carefully). Dimension: diameter: 8.3 cm, height: 6.2 cm.

A small Satsuma cup and saucer, probably Taisho period, c 1920. Well composed and painted decoration of a flower shrub in colours and gilt, on a finely crackle-glazed ground in pearly off-white. Painted seal mark to cup and saucer. Diameter of saucer "4¼/ 11,5 cm, height of cup "2/ 5 cm. Note: there are two more saucers of the same kind available. Condition: fine, except for some stains on the saucer as seen in photos.

Small antique Japanese lacquer zushi (personal shrine) with tiny carved wooden bodhisattva inside. The standing figure inside is painted black and gold. The exterior of the zushi is lacquered black and the inside is painted a deep green with delicate gold details. Tiny copper hardware.

Nice old Lahu bamboo woven basket (there is some rattan used in the bindings), from the Golden Triangle region in Northern Thailand. This is a genuine ethnic/tribal piece and not made for the tourist trade. There is a carrying strap that comes with this but it is not woven into the basket itself. The basket is in excellent condition while the strap has some brittleness where it folds. H: 22cm/8.5in and D: 23cm/9in.
