Late Qing Dynasty (late 19th century to 1911) Chinese horn square seal of plain shape with very crisply carved Chinese characters on the base and traces of red seal paste in the grooves. The impression of the seal is shown on Enlargement 1. Beautiful light color horn with old age lines horn, incised character on the top for the owner to know the orientation of the impression. Mellow patina, very nice object for scholar’s table. Height 1 1/4 inches, base 1/2 inches square.
Japanese late 19th century sleeve from a stage costume. The sleeve has design hand embroidered on front and back. The front has a large pearl with 3 dragon claws showing around the edge. There are also plum blossoms, bamboo leaves and stylized clouds. The reverse has the 3 friends, bamboo, plum and pine with cloud designs. There is also a fabric handle for the piece. This type of sleeve was not actually worn, but held against the body during a performance...

Japanese 17th/18th century scroll painting of a buddhist priest, outlined in a very rare style of incredibly tiny calligraphy mantra. The mantra repeats "Amida Butsu Nam Mo". The meditating priest holds a strand of mala beads and a willow branch and is seated upon a green lotus throne on clouds. The figure is most likely "Dengyo Daishi", the monk who brought Buddhism into Japan...

Hotei was a historical Chinese monk allegedly living in Wuyue kingdom in the 10th century and known for his jolly nature and love of children, he is considered to be an incarnation of Buddha Maitreya - the Buddha of the Future...

A large Kakiemon dish decorated with the Three Friends of Winter to the rim and a central motif of a Peony. The reverse decorated with a continuous lotus scroll and a spiral fuku in a double square. The dish dates to the late seventeenth century circa 1680-1700.
The dish measures approximately 25 cm in diameter and stands 6cm high. The dish is in good condition, except for a crack to the rim and small filled chip. Shipping at Cost.
Interesting marble cylinderse, Mespotamia, dating to Middle-Late Assyrian Empire, mid 2nd. to early 1st. mill. BC.

Small statue of Green Tara, wearing diadem, necklace and dhoti, sitting "at ease" on a double lotus throne. Her right hand holds the "cintamani", the jewel which "grants wishes or satisfies all desires". Bronze, with fine green patina in the recesses. Tibet, 16th century or earlier. Height: 3 3/8" (8,5 cm). Strong erosion due to very old age, tiny losses at the base of the throne, otherwise very good condition. NOTE: Green Tara is seen as the Buddhist protector against all dangers.
This is Tsutsugaki produced in the Shonai district for the Meiji period. This was used in a merchant's family. As for this, cotton is spun by hand. This has a pattern and the family coat of arms of the peony butterfly. This is a pattern of the good luck. This has slight aging fading in three places, but there is not the damage. The state is good.
