Japanese antique small Ko Tansu (personal chest) made all of kiri (paulownia) wood with black lacquered iron hardware. This small chest has 4 drawers and 1 small door with 2 hidden drawers. The hardware is all made of blackened iron and includes 4 round drawer pulls, 5 locks and 2 side handles.

Good black glazed with large swathes of russet jug circa Ming Dynasty bottle with two lugs. There are a few chips on the lower edge of mouth. This kind of ware was the “coke bottle” of their day, common place household/kitchen items, almost every home would have a few. No reason (after a good cleaning and sanitation) you couldn’t reuse for your favorite poteen, bai jiu or single malt. H: 21cm/8.2in and D: 14.5cm/5.8in.
What a wonderful glaze. Slightly distorted shoe shaped (kutsugata) tea bowl from the early Edo period with a rounded brim, made of light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay. The expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potter's knife in its lower part around the foot ring.
In the style of Kuro-Oribe bowls this bowl was covered with a brown iron oxide glaze...

An antique Japanese 2 part Usubata in bronze featuring a Minogame (age old turtle) base. Mounted to the shell is a flanged cloud rendering with four terminating columns that undulates to a removable wide rim water receptacle. Artist signed at the base of the receptacle. Beautiful craftsmanship including the fine stimple work to the underside of the turtle.
In Japan, the turtle is a good luck animal symbolizing 10,000 years of long life...
Small statue of Bhairava standing on a lotus base, in an aggressive posture, holding Brahma's skull in his left hand, with his right hand raised threateningly. An incredible Mishima Chawan dating from the Edo period with a wide repair to the rim in dark lacquer decorated with golden grasses in gold maki-e lacquer designs. It comes in an ancient dilapidated silk pouch with cotton buffer enclosed in an age darkened kiri-wood box titled Mishima Chawan. The bowl is 5.5 cm (2 inches) tall, 12.5 -13.5 cm (5-1/2 -6 inches) diameter and in fine condition. Mishima ware refers to different types of imported and adopted Japanese pottery...

Rare Japanese chirimen silk kimono with a jacquard weave, in gradating shades of blue, with Shibori designs of flowers and flowing water, lined in salmon pink silk with flowers. Shibori is a very labor intensive style of dying fabric in which small areas are tied and twisted to create dramatic patterns. Jacquard weaving is done on a special loom and results in complex patterns.
