Chinese Qing dynasty circular form lidded box finely decorated in pencil-thin strokes of underglaze blue on a white porcelain ground. The center of the domed lid features a nobleman on horseback flanked by an attendant walking in front and behind. A set of very finely carved wooden panels with extremely high relief portraits of a man and woman, Mid-European, probably Flemish / Dutch, dating to the 16th. century AD.
Interesting well-defined portraits of an upperclass couple, perhaps a wealthy trader or banker and his wife, both clad in high fashion of the 16th. century. The panels are carved with beautiful floral decoration.

Very detailed made as a grinning man with his tungue between his teeth and wearing earrings, the spout of the vessel prodruding from the top of his head.
