Fine Large Chinese Qin / Western Han Dynasty Burnished Pottery Cocoon Jar with Oxford TL Test

Full-bodied young bovine standing on short legs. The massive head with short horns, protruding eyes and bulging muzzle. Skin folds around the neck, tail indicated.
Moldmade hollow figure, small vent hole between the hind legs.
White slip all over, remains of yellow ochre and pink pigment. Root marks.
The ink inscription on the bottom refers to Fischer’s 1941 sale and reads 234-B1404-ist pe.

The head of Dionysos with almond-shaped eyes, a strong nose and a small mouth with pursed lips.
The broad beard with fine wavy strands. Undulated, slender moustache. The hairdo with strands of hair that end in curls, without the hair band above. Traces of red (carmine) pigment on the forehead and the beard.
Fine archaic style, excellent modeling. Mounted on an acrylic stand.

Pre-Columbian Nayarit male Kokopelli ca. 300 ad, playing a wood rasp drum with a horned helmet, the Kokopelli of the prehistoric southwest was described as a man with a terribly deformed back, bent over playing a flute with magical powers and was able to communicate with the Gods, I believe this is the grandfather of the prehistoric southwest Kokopelli, meaning the legends of the Kokopelli didn't start in the southwest but much further south. Every legend had to start somewhere...

A medium size pottery figure of a female attendant from the Han Dynasty.This is an original Han piece. There still a good amount of the original white slip remaining. Size H. 26cm. Condition: No repairs or breaks. Small chip on the nose.

These four points were found in the Arkansas River area of southeast Colorado and are from the old-time collection of Arley Hudson. The longest one is 1 1/8". All are very thin and expertly chipped. They are from the Mississippian Period C1000AD.

Very good style and workmanship and nice white marple with patina.

Size: 12,5 cm. tall and quite massive, mounted on a wooden plint which makes it 15,2 cm. high.

Condition: Choice and intact, but with a small ancient loss at the back of her head, not affecting the details of the face and hair...

Standing with a long spade and a handleless shovel in his hands, he tilts his head slightly upward as if surveying his crops or checking the weather. Rare snapshot of a satyr play with a pot-bellied actor in the role of the drunken satyr on a mule. The ithyphallic animal with dancing hind legs, the head thrown up, the mouth easily opened.
The rider sits as if drunk, the head turned to the side. His left hand clasps the head of the mule, while his right rests on the animal’s croup.
The actor wears a satyr mask with receding forehead, prominent eyebrows, deep-set eyes, flattish nose, open mouth and goatee beard...

Standing figure, Nayarit, West Mexico, 100BC-250AD H. 19,5 cm. Good condition: chip to the right ear and a minor repair to the tip of the nose. Good manganese deposits. Ex Dutch private collection, collected in the 1970’s.

Rare terracotta draped Corinthian column, the details of the capital and the drapery finely modeled.
The motif is uncommon and supposed to bear some funerary significance.
Behind the monograms ΠΓ. A small vent hole below the inscription.

Glaze degradation and corrosion

Appealing head of Eros rendered with girl-like features. The head with heavy-lidded eyes, a broad nose and sensuous lips. The richly curled hairdo falls down the left side of the head.
The young god has put his right arm over the head and may hold a flower (?) The button of a garment close to the neck.
Superb modeling with much use of the modeling tool.
