This is after an 1895 work by well-known, important, English Victorian artist LAWRENCE ALMA-TADEMA (1836-1912), titled "A Coign of Vantage". Watercolor on paper, 12 1/2" by 9 1/2" inside the mat, 18 1/2" by 14 1/2" as framed, the subject the Museum of Wooden Architecture in Suzdal, Russia. Suzdal is in the province of Vladimir, approximately 150 miles northeast of Moscow. The work is signed at lower right by the talented contemporary Russian gallery artist NIKOLAI TROSCHENKOV (1961-) and dated there 1989, and at lower left, I'm told, is the name of the town (all this related to me by Russian speakers)...

This is an original hand-colored, 19th century lithograph print by the iconic American ornithologist and naturalist artist JOHN J. AUDUBON, from the nineteenth century series in the small octavo size. Inside the present mat, dimensions are 6" by 10" (13 1/4" by 17 1/4" as framed). The title is "Clapper Rail or Salt Water Marsh Hen" and this is Plate number 310 in a long series of bird prints in the small octavo size...

The green-blue facade is the trademark of one of the world's most famous buildings, which served as the official residence of the Russian Emperors from 1732 to 1917. A simple, colorful work sure to please the clown painting aficionado. Brush strokes and color reflect the skill of the artist. According to the AskArt listing for the Burns, she was born in New Jersey in 1943 and grew up in La Jolla, California...

The work measures 14" by 20" inside the present mat and 25" by 31" as framed in simple light wood, (no glass). The painting is in excellent condition despite the lack of glass. Mats are soiled and should be replaced. A well executed work squarely in the "California Style" of watercolor painting.

Oil on canvas painting of a street scene, presumably in Israel, 16" by 11 1/4" framed, signed at lower left "Moshe M.". This does not appear to be by Moshe Mokady, the best known artist with whom that name corresponds closely. Nevertheless it is a competently handled work in excellent condition.

Watercolor on paper, unsigned, 14" by 18" (19" by 23 1/2" as framed/matted), American, dating likely from the late thirties to the mid fifties. The work is obviously by a talented artist, considering the way in which the flowering trellis vine has been depicted. There is a Somerville, New Jersey label on reverse from the framing outfit, from 1959, naming an Earl Potter from Potterville, NJ, but I don't believe this is the artist's name...

Acrylic on canvas 15" by 19" (21 1/2" by 24 1/2" framed) painting of northeastern-style clapboard homes in late autumn season, a tiny figure and dog adding a charming touch, signed at lower right by artist BEN ROSEN. A worn label affixed to the reverse of the canvas gives the title "The Suburb", 1984 date, and a 718 area code phone number (greater New York City area)...

Impressionist American painting of a beautiful landscape in late spring or early summer, unframed, unsigned, contemporary, likely acrylic, on canvas laid down on a foamboard, measuring 20" by 24". The work is obviously by a trained and skilled hand. Condition is excellent; needs only a frame. This being a "standard" size at 20 by 24, a suitable, flattering, pre-made frame should be easy to locate.

Oil on canvasboard painting of a lonely rutted dirt track in the California desert, 16" by 20" (21 1/2" by 25 1/2" framed), signed at lower right by artist Helen Hausman. I think the painting probably dates to the 1950's or very early 1960's. It is very dirty with yellowed varnish and grime. A cleaning would work wonders.

ONE OF A NUMBER BY THE ARTIST IN MY SHOP**This is a small etching (the sheet 7 1/2" by 5 1/2", respectably matted but not framed), by the noted California artist HARRIET GENE ROUDEBUSH (1908-1998), titled at lower left margin "Russian Hill" and pencil signed at lower right by the artist. The artist depicts a bird's eye view looking northwest from Russian Hill towards distant Mount Tamalpais in Marin County across the Golden Gate...

Old vintage pastel on paper drawing of a New England landscape in the fall, including a white 19th century house and a lone figure, 12" by 9" (15 1/2" by 12 1/2" framed), no glass, signed very faintly at lower right corner as (I believe) "F. Will" (or, T. Will, or T. or F. Wills). I do not think the artist is the listed Frank-Will. This particular scene seems to be after a well known original by a noted American artist...
