This is a very early watercolor, 9 1/2" by 5 3/4" framed, in the style of the early 19th century, titled at bottom "Double Rose", by an anonymous artist lost to time. His or her handiwork has survived likely 150 years or more but has lost a little color from fading, and the paper has browned. These are not faults---rather, they give the drawing age and character...

Oil on canvas, 12" by 15 3/4", unframed and unsigned, the subject a pensive figure, likely a male, seated on a breezy patio with French doors, curtains and a Paris-style small cafe table and chairs, a tea or coffee service on the table. The anonymous artist created a very appealing, contemporary little work, with impressive impressionist technique. This is a very contemporary work, unframed, on a wood or masonite panel, 8 3/4" by 12", signed (incised) at lower right corner "EW" and dated there "01". The scene is a city street, depicted in rather bright color, in an impressionist technique; what is quite unusual here is the added medium used, the surface obviously having been worked with wax (I believe this might be called "encaustic" when used in a painting)...

One could call this work a homage to Jackson Pollock and Sam Francis: colorful drips in red, blue, yellow and gray, on an inky black background, 20 1/4" by 24 1/2" as simply framed in silvery metal behind Plexiglas. There is no signature. A fine choice if you are looking for original abstract art for your mid century or modern interior.

Oil or acrylic on canvas, unframed, 10" by 14", unsigned, the work painted in a harmonious and quite modern mix of varying shades of purples and greens, topped with white drips, the result a pleasing work that would look great in a contemporary or mid century setting. You would not necessarily have to frame this before hanging it on the wall. Condition is excellent.

This is an original drawing in charcoal and watercolor, by the well listed French artist LUCIEN PHILIPPE MORETTI (1922-2000), the subject a young boy, 25 1/2" by 19 1/2", unframed. It is signed by the artist at lower right, dated 54, and the place where it was drawn is also present (the "Place du Tertre", in the heart of Montmartre's artist district)...

Offered together as a pair, these are hand colored stipple engraving botanical prints, one titled "Neottia speciosa", the other "Paonia albiflora", by the highly important Belgian-born botanical artist of the late years of the 18th century and early years of the 19th, PIERRE-JOSEPH REDOUTE (1759-1840). The original drawings from which the images derive were created sometime around 1810...

PAIR of watercolors, the larger of raspberries on the vine, painted with amazing attention to detail and realism, measuring 10 3/4" by 8" inside the mat; the smaller painting of three bright red cherries and a leaf, measuring 6" by 9" inside the mat, BOTH SIGNED AT LOWER RIGHT with initials "M. Oil on canvas extensive view of a town of red-roofed houses by the sea, a colorful garden and balustrade railing in the foreground, executed by an unknown artist, likely in the latter years of the 20th century. The artist painted a highly impressionistic work (27" by 31", 35 1/2" by 40" framed) in cheerful, light, sunny colors. The work is very decorative and is in perfect condition, so would be an item that you could hang on the wall immediately. Frame is in almost perfect condition as well...

Watercolor on paper painting of a classic stone castle with figures outside its portals, 14" by 10 1/2" (26 1/2" by 23" as framed), apparently unsigned. This is a circa 1850 work which has survived in presentable condition. There is foxing in the sky principally, as shown, but no large stains. To be sure, there were a lot of anonymous skilled watercolor artists in the British Isles in the 19th century, though this might well have been created by an artist that would be "listed" today.
