Watercolor and sepia brown ink on thin paper drawing of swans in a pond surrounded by vegetation, the sheet itself 5 3/8" by 11 5/8", apparently unsigned/undated, and with no watermarks I can see. An antique, classical, academic red chalk drawing of the head and neck of a young male, 19 3/4" by 15 1/4" (25" by 20 1/2" framed), unsigned. The circa 18th century drawing is quite beautiful and Neo-Classical, after the sculpture of ancient Greece and Italy. The gold frame does have some losses.

A striking miniature with a good attribution to George Newcombe. As opposed to the more usual bust length rendering, this is a 3/4 length pose. That, combined with the style of the dress, intentionally gives a longer, or imposing, feel to the figure.

When the organic substrate of the painting was trimmed, it was done unevenly and close to an edge, so it could be framed better than in the current half of a travel case. Sight size is 3 1/8" by 2 1/2".

Housed in a cast foliate case with a rear glazed aperture containing cross-braided plaits of hair.

No cracks, chips, restoration or other condition issues. Sight size is 2 1/2" by 1 3/4", and the frame size is 4 3/8" by 3 3/8".
