This incredible Clovis point, found on the Little Missouri River in Nevada County, Arkansas in 1928, is made from highly translucent novaculite of which only a few are known to exist. I had it authenticated at a forensic laboratory in Santa Fe New Mexico. The COA is included. The point is 3 1/2" long, 1" wide or 8.98 cm in length, 2.4 cm in width and 6.2 mm thick. An unusual double sided miniature by Frederick Buck. The paintings were probably done at somewhat different times, and then framed together.

A beautifully painted portrait miniature by William Naish, done in watercolor on natural wafer. The sitter is a nice-looking gentleman with brown eyes and powdered hair with a pigtail. He is attired in a blue jacket, a white ruffled shirt, an elaborately tied white scarf, all highlighted with a slash of brilliant red. The case is copper, of very high quality, of the type with side pins holding together the front and back. The reverse of the case has a glazed aperture containing a plait of hair.

A superb pair of miniature portrait paintings done by Joseph Dunkerley. Labels on the reverse of each case identify the sitters as Joseph Packwood and Denise Wright Packwood, and are dated 1780.

The in-frame dimensions are 38" W x 30" H while the painting itself measures 28 1/4" W x 20 1/4" H. The amazing frame is from the 19th Century and showcases the beauty of the piece. The subject matter is Venus (in her Half Shell chariot pulled by doves) finding Adonis dead after the hunt she begged him not to go on.
