Watercolor on paper landscape, 10 1/2" by 7" inside the early-style gold mat, 18 1/2" by 14 1/2" as framed, signed in blue at lower right "J.A. HANCOX". No listings were found for this artist, but the work appears certainly to be of English origin. There is fairly heavy foxing especially at top in the sky, and a small bar of lighter paper there. It appears that the artist signed in lower right corner and then tried to rub it out there before re-signing it two inches higher up.

Japanese limited edition sosaku hanga woodblock print depicting two horses in profile galloping neck and neck by Tadashi Nakayama (1927-2014) titled “Running Horses.” The print was executed in bold colors with gold diagonal lines and silver highlights set against a black background. This COULD be a work by well listed artist MARCEL LEPRIN (1891-1933). I hesitate to state unequivocally that it is, as the long hand signature differs from the commonly seen all-capital letters version. The artist was known to do very similar works of Paris, and many other parts of France, from Normandy to Marseilles...

The work measures 19" by 13" inside the mat and 33" by 26" as framed. Surprisingly I do not see any information online on the artist; perhaps a more vigorous search will turn up something about him and his endeavors as a wildlife artist. A vintage impressionist oil on board painting with modernist touches, unsigned, 20" by 16". The work is probably by a listed artist but alas there is no signature. The almost Cubistic handling of the cloth and rear drape and the foreshortened space are most interesting. The work probably dates to about the 1940's. Unframed, and with some small faults common to older paintings, including light soiling, a few minor losses, edge losses etc.

Eye-catching patinated bronze swan statue on a black marble base.. This curvilinear design is reminiscent of the Art Deco period. The edges of the marble base are beveled and the corners are rounded; it all feels very smooth. Unsigned, there was green felt on the bottom that was removed, but enough remains that it will protect a wood surface from scratching. In excellent condition, it measures 16.12ʺ long × 4.12ʺ deep × 11.75ʺ high.

Bronze sculpture of a figure, perhaps hugging a guitar or bass (or, abstracted second figure?), numbered 57/300 and signed at bottom by artist I. STOLOFF (IRMA STOLOFF, New York, 20th century). The work is 11 1/4" in height, sits on a 2" high black plinth, and weighs six pounds. Condition is excellent. I have not located information on the obviously talented and trained artist. The work's impressionistic brushstrokes, the handling of light and color, is just fabulous, reminiscent of the French impressionists of the late 19th century...
