Middleton painted in oil and watercolor in Surrey, greater London, and Cornwall, as well as South Africa, apparently, as a number of works from Cape Town are known. Mexican Folk Art Day of the Dead La Catrina beaded statue with a rotating skull. Decorated with thousands of tiny beads, each was hand placed one by one, to create sacred designs and patterns of the ancient Huichols. Made by Huichol artisans from the Sierra de Nayarit in Mexico, this piece took months to make. Base is terracotta and it is in excellent condition measuring 3 feet high, 11" deep, and 8" across.

A fine miniature painting, attributed to Jeremiah Paul, of a handsome brown-eyed man in a black coat and waistcoat, white shirt and cravat. The reverse of the gilt metal pendant case has a glazed aperture containing a wreath and plait of hair, one of which is most likely the sitters and the other of a loved one. E. Condition of the painting and the case are both excellent, without problems. Sight size is 2 5/8" by 2 3/8" and the case size is 2 7/8" by 2 5/8".

Watercolor on paper painting of a traditional Chinese junk near the shore of a reedy body of water, 15" by 11 1/2" (20 1/2" by 16 1/2" in simple blond wood look framing), signed at lower left in pencil with what appears to be the name "Tang". The transparent washes and deft handling make for a pleasing and calming image that is a fine alternative to a print. The work is affixed or pressed against the backing by the glass---there is not a proper mount.

A circa turn of the century oil on canvas painting of a creek and surrounding woods in the autumn of the year, 11 1/2" by 22 1/2", on canvas, and 17 1/2" by 29" in likely original frame, apparently unsigned. The work has survived over a century in excellent condition. No punctures or problems. There are a few chips missing from the frame. A pleasing, easy to live with scene that brings a sense of calm and reflection.
