An unframed old watercolor painting of tall trees in a Japanese forest, 19 1/2" by 13", signed at lower right by listed artist TOKUSABURO KOBAYASHI (1884-1949). There is old Japanese yellowed newspaper from THE HOCHI SHIMBUN used as cushioning between the watercolor paper and the old wood backing panel. Kobayashi was active in the first part of the century as a watercolorist. Frame with archival materials to enjoy this fine watercolor of a (cedar?) forest.
Chinese Ma Shaoxuan glass inside painted portrait snuff bottle of a Chinese official. Spoon with red stone stopper (believed to be agate). Recessed base. On the front with the picture there is 6 characters of writing. On the back there is a poem with a red seal.

Old Chinese scholar’s rock in a shape of a dramatic snow covered mountain with numerous caves and crevices. Gives wonderful impression of immense energy of the mountain. Zhaoqing limestone of off-white color with darker inclusions and pinkish tinged areas. Superb scholar’s object, beautiful patina on the surface of the stone, flattened bottom, fitted rosewood stand. Height with stand 3 1/2 inches, length with stand 8 1/4 inches.
