A beautiful small bronze bust of a young Southeast Asian girl wearing a high headdress, a makuta crown, often used in the classical court dances in Thailand, Burma, Laos or Cambodia. The back of the patinated bronze head with the two initials "V.N." standing for Vietnam, work attributed to the Vietnamese artist Nguyen Thanh Le (1919-2003). Unlike many of the pieces in the genre of Kyo-ware, this tea bowl is decidedly demure in appearance. Milky, flowing glaze pools in places along a backdrop of ivory and coral pink sides, contrasting nicely with the rough, unrefined clay of the base. In the center of the kodai is a decorative swirl pattern reminiscent of the yin and yang.

The potter, Kanpu Kawanabe (1873 - 1947) was born into a family of weavers but went on to be trained in many of the arts related to tea ceremony...

Korean Silla Stoneware Tall incised pot, Silla Period, 4th-6th C. stoneware with a slight natural ash glaze and incised comb patterns on the neck between two double lines. The pedestal base with cut out designs, the base repaired as seen in pictures as well as a chip to the rim but otherwise in great condition.Size H 14" W 11"

Antique Asian Silver metal and Coral Turquoise Prayer Wheel, well made with extensive wire work as well as set with real cabachon stones in Turquoise Lapis and Coral. The metal content is unknown and the wheel is made of 3 parts and open easily so if this were to be used I would glue the lid and base together . Antique Tibetan cabinet with 2 large compartments. The entire front of the cabinet is decorated in kyungbur technique (designs and pictures painted in raised lines of a gesso and resin mixture) on a deep red ground. Two large compartments are covered by 8 large panels decorated with phoenixes in medallions of scrolling vines and flowers. The middle four panels open to the compartments. The bottom of the chest has 3 additional stationary panels decorated similarly with flowers...

Provenance: Purchased from the estate of a retired professor from the University of Paris France many years ago.

Condition: These prints have never been framed, they have been kept in a portfolio. Some yellowing to the silk borders.

Richly enameled with vibrant colors this snuff bottle features a bee headed towards a group of flowers. The cap is a red stone and the bottle is hand painted and signed on the bottom. A nice piece for the beginning collector which will only increase in value over time. Measures 3.75 inches high.
