From an important private Danish collection of European decorative ironworks, here's an amazing early Iron lock, from a door, South-Germany, Renaissance period, c. 1600 AD.

An early lock with a perfectly preserved locking mechanism. A snap lock with two bolts for extra security.

Size: c. 18,5 cm. long and 18,7 cm. wide.

Provenance: Danish Private collection of Grethe Pedersen, Ledøje, Denmark, ca. 1950-1997. Purchased at Ole Jensen, Antique Dealer, 1969.

A lovely set of two different smaller weights, incl. an early 18th. century Toe or Chinte 2 Tical from Burma (31,7 grams) and a scarce very old Laotian of Lanna snake weight (8,22 grams), also from the 18th. century.

Condition: Beautiful ancient patina on these two!

A very rare and attractive glass flask or vase, decorated with sea animals, Roman Empire, 1st.-3rd. century AD.

The flask with fine decorative impressions of sea animals - an octopus and a wonderfully detailed firsh on the surface. The neck is straight and undecorated and with a flat ring as a lip atop. Light blue-green glass.

Size: 11,2 cm. tall.

Condition: Choice for type - a hairline repair where the neck meets the body.

A huge and unusual candlestick, European and possible a candelabra from a church, dating to the 18th. century.

Size: c. 46 cm. tall - very impressive! The base is 16 cm. wide.

Condition: The piece is basically intact but a bit loose on the lowest part, which can be fixated quite easily. It has several dents, wear and patina etc..

A very large bronze vessel, wonderfully engraved with panels and elephant handles, Japanese, likely made for the Chinese market, Edo period, 19th. century.

The vessel with a fine light brown patina with and places with green corrosion.

A high quality large bronze figure of the seated Indra, Nepal, c. 19th. century.

A artfully modelled figure. Normally this fine type is from around 13 cm. to max 21 cm. - our figure is no less than 27 cm. and thus also very broad and heavy for it's type!

The bronze with semiprecious stone inlays depicting the deity seated in maharajalilasana (royal ease), dressed in a dhoti, adorned with jewels and a crown...

Collection of 28 assorted silver, shell, bone, copper and stone ornaments and amulets from different Andean cultures; mostly well preserved. Circa 1000-1400 AD.

In the collection a nice selection of finely made silver miniatures, incl. a vessel, and a flute etc. Also included is a larger engraved silver hanger.

Interesting pottery figure depicting a very fat deity, Roman, 1st.-3rd. century AD:

Seated naked with a fat belly, ancient losses to extremeties.

An attractive and peculiar style bronze buddha, Indonesia, perhaps Sumatra (?), 19th. century or earlier.

He is seated in meditation with tribal headdress and large round bracelets on an semi-circular throne with a backplate.

Conditin: Choice and intact with a fine dark natural patina.

A nicely executed thinbutted Danish Neolithic silex axe, dating to mid-late 4th mill. BC.

Unpolished axe with nice proprotions and clear 'seams' along the edges. Very nice workmanship.

Thinbutted axes were developed to help neolithic people to clear the forest to prepare the land for farming. The largest specimens - up to 40 cm - were put down in marches as offers.

Size is 20 cm, so a larger specimen - c. 7,8 inches.

A scarce thinbutted Danish Neolithic silex axe, mid-late 4th mill. BC.

The axe has a rarely seen feature with a carved ring in the middle of the head. Most thinbladed axes doesn't have this kind of fitting, so this specimen must have been fastened to the shaft in a different way than usual. Maybe used as an adze.

Size is 17 cm - 6,7 inches.

Condition: Choice axe, w. smaller chips. Resharpened in antiquity. Beautiful calky, white patina.

A smaller Danish Neolithic Hardstone Axe with an unfinished hole near the butt. Likely Funnelbeakerculture, mid-late 4th mill. BC.

Axes like these probably had a religious status, and are rather scarce.

Size is c. 13 cm - 5 inches.

Condition: Nearly superb.

A nice pair of Danish Neolithic axes dating to 4th-3rd mill BC.

The pair consist of:

1. a thinbuttet axe dating to 3500-3000 BC. Almost fully polished with beautiful mottled amber and brown patina. Size is 15,5 cm - 6,1 inches.

2. A thinbladed axe, c 2500 BC - a period were the production of flint tools became more specialized. 12 cm. - 4,7 inches. Fully polished with nice and glossy grey patination.

Ancient Near East, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BC.

A large elaborate bronze cloak pin, cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process with poppy flower shaped terminal.

Used to fasten clothes, in this case due to the unusually heavy fabric and decoration, likely leather for presentation use - perhaps for a very thick cape or leather armor. The lower terminal decorated with knobs and 3 spikes.

Size: 15,8 cm.

Condition: Superb! Wonderful warm red-brown patin...

An attractive brass or white bronze alter / shrine of Virabhadra (Shiva with attendants), Western India, difficult to date, but we think it's at least 18th.-19th. century, but likely somewhat older.
