A superb Kylix, Magna Graecia, South Italic, ca. 350 BC.

The Kylix is a very large wine cup. This fine stemmed black glazed kylix is of a highly attractive form with a raised stem, and a pair of gently sweeping loop handles, the wide shallow body with a corseted shoulder and slightly flaring rim. The glace with beautiful patina leaving a silverish and rainbow gloss!

From an old Danish collection. The figure was severely covered with hard sticky mud when we got it, so we cleaned it a bit, but there's still some work left. Rare and attractive style; she is standing with a her weight on one leg, large breasts and fine details, done in terracotta with black pigment / glace.

This seal predates the Greco-Persian period of Scaraboids and was made during the Neo-Assyrian period, ca. 10th.-8th. century BC.
