A lot of 4 lovely points in fine hardstones and silex from the private collection of P.F. Wulff. We're selling this very old collection in smaller lots to give everyone a chance to own a small piece of the pre-historic Americas!

Two of four points are carved in scarce translucent hardstone, probably agate, and two probably in silex. One is Paleo-Indian from c. 10.000-8000 BC and others can probably be dated to the 2nd.-1st. millenium BC...

Egyptian terracotta fragment of Harpocrates riding a horse, whose mane can be guessed on the right.
The youthful god is dressed in a short tunic and wears a stippled floral wreath topped by the Egyptian double crown. Harpokrates is shown with the right forefinger to his mouth.
Harpokrates was the infant son of Isis and Horus and symbolized both youth and fertility...

Baluster-shaped fitting with horizontal grooves cut into the outside surface. Pair of drilled holes to dowel the piece.

Votive figure of a naked woman, standing with her arms to the thighs. The head shows schematic features and a casket like wig. Schematic rendering of the body, crudely carved in the round.
Enhanced with red and black painted decoration. Red for the necklaze, the upper arm bracelets and the (decorative lines) around the shins. Remains of black on the hair and the pelvic triangle.
Freestanding figures are comparatively rare...

Human-headed Ba-bird with tripartite wig and false beard, the head surmounted by a disk.
The wings lean close to the body, the feet show powerful claws. The back is flat.
Superb made with much use of the modeling tool.
The Egyptian idea of the Ba conceives a free-soul (Freiseele, Exkursionsseele) capable of independent existence from the body. It thus leaves and reunites with the body at will...

For your consideration is this fabulous and large, 18th Dynasty, New Kingdom, black steatite scarab. Not a burial placement, this scarab would have been worn by someone as a talisman during everyday life, as evidenced by the even polishing over the surface. Item measures 25.58 mm (1 ") in length. Condition: surface polished by natural wear. Item is intact and choice with inscription on the underside...

This beautiful Eden point was found in Oregon. It is made from multi-colored petrified bog wood. It has short flutes on both sides. It has a medium ridge on both faces and a ground base. Parallel flaking. It is 2 3/4" long. There is no damage on this point at all. Very fine flaking and an early point. G-10. Purchased from Richard E. Bachman. Pictured in Prehistoric Antiquities & Archaeological News, May 1997, page 35 #4.

Highly stylized female figure carved from a piece of bone. The prominent head with nose and pursed lips in slight relief. The eyes and eyebrows drawn with faint traces of the applied ink. Pierced ears to bear small earrings.

Rare and endearing figure of a young boy disciple of Quanyin (the Goddess of Compassion) wearing a garment etched with a lotus flower - the symbol of Buddhism. He is often depicted near Quanyin with his hands in reverential prayer. The bronze is heavily cast and has wires imbedded underneath the pedestal, perhaps for attaching to a group of figures. An ancient Egyptian alabaster torso of a striding man. Wearing a kilt and with arms depicted on each side. 5.5 inches high. Late Period, 600-30 B.C. Purchased on the Paris art market. Said to be originally purchased a long time ago at the Paris flea market.

A nice terracotta head of Bes, fragmentary and corroded, but substantial and with fine classic features, Egyptian, Late-Roman Period, 500-100 AD. Comes attached to the original German gift letter from the 1920s-1930s.
