An antique Japanese 2 section tall Isho Tansu (Kimono Chest) made from Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. Handmade iron fittings and sliding door handles that feature embossed Paulownia and Chrysanthemums. Side handles were used for transporting this chest.

The 2 sections allows this piece to be used as a stacked set or separated for use in different rooms of the home.

Age: Meiji period (1868-1912)

Dimensions: 63 1/8" High x 35 1/4" Wide x 15 1/8" Deep

Chinese Qing to Republic period porcelain lion dog seated with an open mouth revealing ferocious teeth and a well-formed protruding tongue, covered overall with a golden amber glaze. 8 1/2" high x about 8" long. Early 20th century. An old price tag is adhered to the unglazed base. Very good overall condition with possibly a tiny loss or production flaw to the side of one tooth. Antique Japanese rare large oshi-ire isho tansu from the Sendai area of Japan, (Oshi-ire refers to the closet which housed such large chests and exposed only the front of the cabinet, guests were seated in front of such chests to honor them, unusually large construction with double drawers across the top, beautiful all keyaki (elm) wood with burl wood on drawer fronts and keyaki wood frame, translucent lacquer finish, iron hardware includes large square shaped lock plates with raised scene...

Antique Japanese two panel screen inlaid on both sides with mother of pearl and bone. The front has two beautiful scenes of birds and butterflies perched on flowering wisteria branches. The lower register has a phoenix and a dragon. The back side has scenes of butterflies flittering about. The lower region has panels of crashing waves.Meiji period, 1868-1912. It measures 37" tall 25.25" wide.

Rare Japanese Tansu made of inlaid woods with lacquer panels. Beautifully inlaid with wood in designs of fans and japanese symbols. The inside has black with gold landscape scenes. The drawers are black with copper colored design. The doors have scenes with chickens and a rooster. Outfitted with brass hardware. It measures 13" deep 23" wide 21" tall. Late Meiji period, circa 1910.

A rare and very finely enamelled deep dish depicting two cranes, a pine tree and lingzhi fungus (all symbols for long life) and two bats (good luck). The base carries the six character iron red reign mark of the Guangxu emperor and this item was made during his reign (1875-1908). Condition - there are three 2.5cm (1 inch) light hairlines running from the rim (please view enlargements); no further damages and no restoration...

Rare large pair of beautiful original Japanese bronze temple lanterns with gilt highlights. A Sasarindo crest on the section where the light would be placed; the Sasarindo is the bamboo leaves and gentian flowers crest of the Minamoto clan.
The doors are fully functional. Each lantern is made of 6 individual cast bronze sections. A pearl in a flame sits on top of each lantern. Two very intricate dragons wrap around the lanterns. There are abundant motifs of dragons, flames and clouds...
