An extremely rare scarab seal, carved as an Udjat eye in grey-brown steatite, Egypt, New Kingdom, c. 15th.-14th. cent.
The eye is carved with great artistry, to creat a perfect Udjat eye with fine details and on the base, three strong hieroglyphs of the Ankh for giving Life the Uraeus and erect Cobra and lastly the flat Sun-disc.

Although just a fragment, the imagery is outstanding in this substantial gray pottery piece. Molded and carved, it depicts two seated chieftains facing one another over a table (?) resting on a skull. The imagery is crisp and clear. The piece measures 6" X 2-5/8", while the image itself is 4" in width by 1-3/4". Dating to the 5th - 8th century AD.
