A very finely painted Arita ring shaped wagata-bako porcelain box. It was probably used to contain cosmetics, possibly an Oshiroi-bako, used to contain white face powder. The cover is decorated in Shonsui style with a ring of maru-mon, brocade roundels incorporating the three friends of winter, Shochikubai, Pine, Bamboo and Plum blossom. A hog mouthed beaker of conventional form decorated with Flowers of precious appearance or sometimes referred to as Tang Flowers, karahana. A six character Dai Min Seika nensei mark is painted within the foot-ring. The beaker is in good condition with no cracks, chips or restoration. It measures 9.2cm in diameter and stands 6.2cm high. Stunning large Antique Japanese ishidoro - stone temple garden lantern, carved all of granite in 6 sections. The lotus base is carved so that it is still connected to the natural rock. The lantern section is different than most ishidoro in that it's roof is rounded and does not have curling corners but instead is more mushroom like in form.
